Uh -- yeah....that genie is out of the bottle.

Trump and his minions firmly believe that the word 'Collusion' being absent from the Barr brief means everything is perfect, MAGA is the law of the land, and Trump's hurt fee fees should be mended by anyone who ever questioned his patriotism and he's president for life so suck it, Liberaches.

Well, for starters, the summary literally says he wasn't exonerated. You know, the summary written by a guy whose job is to make the president look good. And that was the best he could do with the material he had.

Look, you libbie lib libs just have to come to grips with the fact that the presidunce said that he was exonerated. I'm sure he's going to back this up by ordering the Attorney General to release the unredacted Mueller report in it's entirety.  He knows that the meat of the exoneration is in the unreleased pieces and that Barr only did the 4 page summary so that we will all know what's going to come out in the full report. I mean, he only had about 24 hours to prepare that report so it was a "summary."  The really good stuff that clears him will come out later.

I mean, the presidense wouldn't lie to the American people, would he?

/yes, cynicism and sarcasm are all I have left right now

From a commenter on another site:

Timeline of events, for any who might have forgotten:
Trump: "I'm going to need a sleazebag to be my AG. How about Jeff Sessions?"
Every intelligent person in congress: "Umm, Sessions is a sleazebag. He CAN'T be AG."
McConnell: "Shut up, shut up, shut up! Senate rules say no saying mean things about senators, and that's DOUBLY true during confirmation hearings for those senators!"
Sessions: smirks quietly and becomes AG.
Trump: "Wait, what? You're recusing yourself? I hired you to prevent this investigation, not let it happen unaltered! You're fired! Now I need a new AG. Darnit Jeff!"
Barr: "You know, I don't think it's even possible for a president to do the crime you're being accused of, and there's literally no evidence on earth that would convince me otherwise."
Trump: "I would like to nominate William Barr to be the next AG, for reasons TOTALLY UNRELATED to the Witch Hunt which has nothing to do with me, but if it did would obviously be a Witch Hunt unlike any the country has ever seen, as long as you ignore literally every congressional inquiry led by the GOP over the last 40 years."
Literally every democrat: "Umm... no."
McConnell: "Welcome to the DoJ, AG Barr!"
Mueller: "Ok, I'm done. Here's me report. It's got lots of stuff in it. In particular, it specifically does not exonerate President Trump of wrongdoing, even while I do not recommend prosecution directly."
Barr: "Wow. This report clearly exonerates Trump entirely of the crime which it's impossible for him to have committed in the first place!"
Literally every intelligent person on Earth: facepalm. "Maybe we could get a look at that there document directly?"
SHS: "President Trump would be perfectly ok with everything in that Mueller report being released. So you'll see it over our dead bodies."

Lucky LaRue: This is going to end up just like claims of catastrophic consequences due to global warming.

Uh, we're already seeing catastrophic local phenomena, but earlier and often worse than conservative AGW modeling results had predicted.  What'll it take for you to call these events "catastrophes"?

2019-03-25 12:17:18 PM
Barr didn't release a summary; he released a teaser.

One thing that's interesting is how the conventional argument is that a sitting president can't be criminally indicted, while at the same time saying that the president shouldn't be impeached if there was no criminal act. And yet "high crimes and misdemeanors" isn't something that reaches a legal criminal standard. If the argument is going to be that impeachment must be founded on indictable crimes, then shouldn't a president be subject to indictment?

If there's worry that the executive can't investigate itself (the DOJ being a part of the EB), I think it's reasonable to say that a president can appoint his AG, but that that AG is duty-bound by his oath of office to prosecute even the man who appointed him if it can be shown that a crime's been committed.

As far as obstruction of justice, justice includes not only the finding of guilt, but the finding of a lack thereof. To interfere with an investigation's ability to discover the question of guilt, regardless of the final disposition, is obstruction per se. I find Barr's conclusion unsatisfactory for ignoring this.

2019-03-25 12:19:08 PM
How about we stop putting all the eggs in the "collusion" basket and go after all the other things Trump has done to ruin the country instead?

So, apparently we're still in the "denial" phase. Or, is this "bargaining"? Hard to tell the difference sometimes.

You can't argue with swamp people. They masturbate to images of Trump torturing brown kids in cages. Draining the swamp begins with removing the GOP in its entirety.
