I wonder if the South is the most aroused in America too so they can say the South is rising again.

Except it's not really the fattest cities. They took 100 cities and they ranked them. #100 is probably one of the least fat cities in the US.

It's really bad when you consider the numbers of meth users there.

San Francisco and Seattle are the slimmest? That's what happens when you spend so much on housing you can't afford food.

I remember the first time I ever had it.  Then I learned to make it, and it's not particularly bad for you when made from scratch, especially the biscuits (store biscuits are loa-ho-did with sodium).  Flour, milk, sausage and maybe a little salt and definitely some pepper.

The gravy is stupid easy to make.  A half pound (or pound) of ground sausage, 1/4 cup of flour, 2 1/2 cups milk.  Cook the sausage (keeping the grease), sprinkle in the flour and stir it around for a couple of minutes, then stir in the milk.  Add salt and pepper to taste.  Turn up the heat until it starts boiling - constantly stirring - then reduce the heat and let it bubble for a couple minutes - again, constantly stirring - until it's nice and thick.

Bust a biscuit in half (or not, they're your biscuits) and pour gravy on them.

May just be a coincidence...but the top 35 cities are all in Republican controlled states.

Correlation does not equal causation and all that...but there is a connection to be made somewhere.

I must have scoured mine off at some point 'cause I will just load up on that stuff.

Fortunately for me, it's moderately hard to find around here, especially as a late riser.

Fat City also happens to be one of my favorite overlooked films and my favorite boxing movie.  Susan Tyrell's performance is absolutely amazing, and then at some point you see another one of her performances and you wonder if she was even acting, I'm still not 100 percent sure.

Jeff Bridges and Stacy Keach also give great performances.

I will now eat this entire cheesecake to bring this back on topic.

Lived in 5 of the top 15. Only about 7-8 pounds overweight by BMI, so I figure it could be a lot worse.

Nearest metro area to me currently is #98 - it has been quite the culture shock.

Getting to the bottom of these differences would be extremely complex. It's culture, but there are so many variables. Meals are treated differently here - it's not assumed when someone has you over that you'll be eating terribly unhealthy food and as much of it as possible (Louisiana). People get outside more, do more activities. Education levels are higher, I've heard a worker at the McDonald's window joking about keto. I can't begin to suss out all the differences, but damn the south is fat and stupid.

Hrm, lets look at the 5 slimmest spots on the list?

Denver CO, Minneapolis MN, Portland OR, Seattle WA, San Franciso CA.

The fattest 5?

McAllen TX, Shrevport LA, Memphis TN, Jackson MS, Mobile AL

Why am I 0% surprised by this?

Colorado, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, etc... all states where people get outside and do stuff other than just eat, drink, and shop.

That's a terrible horseshoe. The cheese sauce (similar to a rarebit) should be the dominant ingredient. Fries should be scattered on top, not used to bury everything else. They should be the nails on the shoe, not a pile of shiat the horse stepped in.

Solid State Vittles: Is this proof that Ohio is actually a Southern state?

It's been noted that Ohio is basically the entire USA scaled down into one state. Liberals, union folks, old money, Jews, and Puerto Ricans in the northeast; oxycodone, meth, and rednecks in the southeast; farming in the northwest; military folks and Christian evangelists in the southwest; and totally white bread in the center (with Amish and don't-tread-on-me types scattered randomly about).

21. Canton, OH
50.  Akron, Ohio

There is about 25 miles between these two cities, but they lump Massilon in with Canton, which just seems wrong to me.

Fun Fact:  Massilon Ohio has such a huge HS football program that HBO had a documentary about it

Within 30 minutes of me I have access to fresh Amish cheeses, wines, and breads.  You want American home cooking (with German\Swedish roots) then you go to an Amish restaurant.  I had breakfast at an Amish families house (they had a small restaurant in their basement)

\ I don't know if we count Toledo as Ohio, it's more like michiganada up there.

I think it was the shortest point between the south (Kentucky) and true freedom in Canada (since they could still be caught in the US and returned).  A lot of old buildings from that time around my area (SE Ohio) have hidden passages and rooms from the underground railroad.

Southern Ohio is also the birthplace of this guy:

In most all of Florida, you are never more than about 10 minutes from a Publix and they definitely carry Dr. Pepper.  Since you are finding Piggly Wiggly stores, you had to be in the panhandle (or at least North Florida).
