What an idiotic thing to protest. It's totally reasonable to make sure there is sufficient visibility at intersections, particularly if traffic in one direction does not stop. If you don't like it, don't buy a corner lot.

Actually don't buy a corner lot in general, it's more sidewalk to clear and more assessments if they calculate based on frontage.

Is anyone actually complaining about the mannequins? Hell, telling weird little stories with them in his yard could become the guy's job, like an avant-garde webcomic that has potential to actually be funny. Like a Calvin & Hobbes snowman strip with real objects.

Or just turn all of their heads to aim at the corner with the stop sign, so anyone stopping there gets a creepy as fark silent stare from all of them at once.

The guy should have seen if there was a height restriction for the fence before he put it up. Heck, he could have asked for a variance and might even have gotten one.

Really? I've bought a number of houses in my life, and I've never thought to look for height restrictions.

How many times have you built right next to a road? I would think it obvious before doing so that you'd research a) how close you can build and b) how high you can build.

I'm guessing that certain areas couldn't care less (i.e., ones that allow for anything-goes). But some areas, especially where houses at intersections are concerned, may be less prone to free-for-all fencing, hedges, etc.

The fact that he parks his trailer in the backyard suggests that his just might be a white-trashy area and the guy just doesn't care about safety concderns or his neighbors.

Um, er, every house I've owned (or al least me and the mortgage co) were on city streets.

The house I now own, I found there was a restriction... after I paid it off, and was looking to add a gazebo... and that was for *back* yards.
