The boomers have smoked more weed than all the other generations combined. Why would they stop now?

Late-boomer (1963) here. I stopped, for all intents and purposes, because of weed's illegality and the ensuing social stigma. When you're a middle-aged suburbanite dad with a mortgage, teenage kid at home and full-time job you have to wake up at 5:20 for... it's just not worth the risk to engage in illegal behavior. And beyond the risk, it's just a bad "look" overall. I have at least two fascistic, busybody neighbors who would probably love to secretly report my ass to the local heat if I gave them an excuse to do so.

But now... the kid has moved away, the house is paid for, my current employer wouldn't even care. If I could legally buy consistent quality goods, tailored to my needs/wants/desires (preferably 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid bud and good-tasting cookies), and get them over the counter at a legit and conveniently located establishment... I would be willing to pay a reasonable markup for it.

America would benefit tremendously if every person over the age of, say, 65, was doped up on weed every day.

Mellow old people, brisk weed sales. Win-win.

Not a boomer but the more enjoying weed the merrier. The entire world would be a hell of lot nicer if everyone just smoked a bowl and like, relaxed.

Good luck on the "good-tasting" part.  They've made great steps in that direction, but even to my destroyed smoker's palate they've still got a long way to go on most things.  There are a few they've got it on, but they tend to be the exceptions.  Out of the commercial stuff, Cheeba Chews, especially the caramels are about the only commonly available edible I've found that successfully ditches any weed flavor.

I cannot tell you the number of people who take opioids by prescription who tell me that weed won't necessarily make the pain go away etc, but it will make it so they don't have to take another pill for longer periods.

I know a few who have been able to get off oxys and just use weed for their pain management but it doesn't work for everyone

for older folks who have to take a fark ton of meds I could easily see this as blessing. They can mitigate some of their symptoms and avoid some of the side effects of the heavy drugs. pot is pretty easy to self medicate with and you are gonna kill yourself if you take too much

Wouldn't advise an older person to take up smoking though, you want to keep your lung function up. Vape or eat edibles instead.

It was a condition of my employment that I not partake, and testing is still common as a prerequisite to hiring. Now that I'm retired, I'm just waiting for my state to legalize it for recreational use. I could buy a medical card, I know, but I'm willing to wait.

One of my good friends that I get high with regularly is a Boomer.
He constantly talks about how much more potent/better the weed is now compared to the 70's. One pipe and he's done, then asks how I can smoke another within 30 minutes.

If anything this is what will drive legal weed.  No the millennials, but the aging boomers who have been waging a WAR AGAINST DRUGS for years, but have been doing more drugs than any generation ever finally getting old enough to need whatever relief they can get as they make their last desperate grasp on life before fading into oblivion.

Thanks guys.

Mid 70s for me... definitely helps with the aches and pains.  Never did the bingo route, would rather enjoy the buzz listening to good tunes..  got 7.1 surround set up in my 'music cave'.. layin' back in the recliner listening to remastered "Riders in the Storm" and the like...  good times....

I think the word you want is "moreover"  which means "additionally". I have no idea what "more over" might possibly mean.  Maybe it could refer to something like a bomber which had flown more accurately to the target and was now more over the target than some other plane..

Not in Oregon.  The legal grow operations are producing ten times a much as the current market demand.

/$2/gm? Yeah, really.

I wish they would hurry up and legalize it here in NC.

I don't have to read statistics and studies. I've lived pot's effects. When it came to pot my late husband was chilled: when it came to alcohol he was a mean, abusive drunk (hence my other moniker "The Merry Widow") Also, pot got me through chemo (I am a breast cancer survivor).

Let's cut the bulmalarky and legalize it nationwide!

Try hops tea.  Go to a brewing supply joint (or online) and get some hops buds and steep them in hot water.  It'll taste like ass so a little honey will make it better.  It puts me out within about 30 minutes and I sleep through the night.

There's also some herbal thing named NyteTime or something close that has hops, chamomile, and melatonin.  They put me out like a light, the melatonin gives me some very vivid dreams.  Not really a fan of that part...

That's great and all, but as a group they still oppose legalization and they vote.

So as a group they're smoking it, but also demanding it stay illegal. Just one more "fark you, I got mine" from the Baby Boomer generation.

COPD sufferer here, I've occasionally smoked a bit of the Christmas present from my daughter but I really want New Jersey to legalize recreational weed so we can get edibles here. As it is, we've enjoyed the CBD gummies a lot as far as relaxation & pain management goes.
