While I do believe that cybernetic augmentation will be a thing I'm highly skeptical that brain enhancements are only 2 decades away and extremely skeptical that they won't be used for evil. Really I'm just waiting for AI to take over so we can all be lazy assholes like in Wall-E or The Culture. (Yes I know not everyone in the culture is lazy but I would be and that is the point of the culture)

"I know some of you are thinking we're collecting your innermost thoughts and storing them in a massive private database. I know this because my analysts have been reading those thoughts in your feed for several months. But I can put all your minds at ease... by engaging the countersignal that prevents you from having or even remembering those thoughts. There, much better! Now then, we were just talking about how everyone loves GoogleBrain..."

These things are unlikely to ever be able to "download" knowledge and skills into your brain. All they will do is enable easier recall of facts and memories. You'll still have to do the required repetition and training to utilize any of that. It will be no different than you looking up something on your phone, except instant.

For example you may have once watched a YouTube video on how to replace your alternator. And you may have succeeded, but not without difficulty, constant rewatching of the video, and a lot of errors and setbacks, and you're still not a master mechanic. All a brain implant will do is let you follow that video without holding a phone in your hand.

Somacandra: Memorizing isn't learning.

No, but it does help prevent synaptic pruning (https://www.healthline.com/health/synaptic-pruning).

That said, it would be awesome af to have something like this answer every question in my head on demand, but that's a pretty double-edged sword for someone like me.  Too bad companies have to ruin new tech with data mining.

Finally, someone who sees the horrible future that is upon us, where humans are engineered to suit the environment.

And no matter how hard they try, they will never create a human being more absolutely perfect than Taylor Swift, with her beautiful flowing golden locks of hair.  I get so romantic just thinking about them.

As has already been noted, raw information isn't analysis/synthesis, so no to the learning. Tons of info at your braintips? Yes.

But like almost every other new technology, porn will determine its ultimate fate.
