I misunderstood your question. I interpreted it to mean "what about the possibility she gets eaten?" as opposed to "what happens to exotic animals when their owners can no longer care for them?" It's a valid point and one for which I lack a snarky answer.

Depending on what type of exotic. Her family can sell/donate/relocate them to other collectors for a nice mint.
