(Some Seafood Guy)   Man arrested at the airport for smuggling 15,500 tons of shrimp. He planned to barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it, pan fry it, deep fry it, stir-fry it, make pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp and coconut shrimp. That's about it   (undercurrentnews.com) divider line

Man, Chinese airlines must have very different policies regarding carry-ons than American airlines.

The excise tariff appears to be about 12%. Considering that bit about a 44% increase in apparent imports probably corresponds with an amnesty provided you were honest going forward. Then they picked someone who hadn't complied to make an example of.

That might seem like a lot to fit in his carry-on bag, but it was shrimp so it wasn't very big.

31 MILLION POUNDS of shrimp? That's a whole ecosystem! How does one obtain THAT DAMN MUCH shrimp?? No "asking for a friend" jokes here, that's just a truly excessive amount of seafood.

Oh wait... "...over three years..." That takes the edge off it a bit. That's still a damn lot of shrimp, though.

Fake news, no airplane can transport 15,500 metric tonnes of shrimp.

2019-03-19 12:25:01 PM
My mind kept translating that as 15 tons of shrimp, and I still thought that was a lot.
Later realized it said 15.5 thousand tons.

So here's the thing, they didn't catch him on the first shimpment.
First 100 kgs.
First ton.
Second...third...seventh...now at 15.5 they catch him?
With, as the article mentioned, TV crews already in the airport??
Methinks said businessman did not share, either with the customs people or the powers that be.

/or did not share enough

Nice headline subby

15,000
15,000
15,500 tons.

Well, if there is anybody foolish enough to believe that refugees and undocumented workers are bringing the drugs and the rape, just consider how easy it is to get 15,500 tons of smelly stuff through an American airport and past the highly-paid-off smiling customs and excise agents.

15,500 tons. As a point of comparison, a fully loaded eighteen wheel tractor-trailer rig is 80 tons. 40 of which is the truck and trailer, 40 of which is the cargo.

You'd need an oil tanker to send that much rape and drugs to Ameriduh, the Great Consumer, the Great Attractor of all prohibited shiat.

Donald Dumbth's head should be on a pike at the city gates. And if you believe what he says, yours should be two or three pikes down, where the coffee boy's head used to sit.

16 tons and deeper in debt? Little pizzle!

Pull off to the side of the road and let the big boys through.

Sorry. My mistake.

a) this was a Chinese airport. It makes sense that they are smuggling on an industrial scale.
b) it was 15,500 metric tonnes, not tons. A metric tonne is about a long ton, or 2,200 pounds.

I wondered about that. American news always makes you wonder if the numbers are right or even possible.
