You can get used to a certain amount of crowding. And by "a certain amount", I mean 9 people in a shotgun house. As I've mentioned, through the census forms available via ancestry.com I've checked out the residences my ancestors. They lived squeezed into houses not much bigger than modern garages. And continued to breed. Hence my presence.

These people have lived in large communal houses in the middle of the Amazon
rain forest..They have been doing this for probably a thousand years...It's only when
"missionaries" come along and tell them they should be "ashamed" and what they are doing
is wrong, does the community become fractured and the culture destroyed..
