Nice headline, Subby.

I was born in Goldsboro, and we used to ship Wilbur's BBQ sauce up to North Dakota, so I'm really getting a kick.

If Hills Barbecue or Lexington Barbecue get shut down I will fly back home to participate in the statewide riots.

The restaurant, which was a 2015 WRAL.com Voter's Choice Award finalist for best Eastern N.C. barbecue,

Nothing of value was lost; just a bunch of limp pork drowned in vinegar. Real BBQ is Western N.C. / S.W. VA / East Tennessee BBQ.   Take that vinegar sauce and mix it with a too-sweet Memphis tomato-based sauce, and you have BBQ perfection.

Yeah, but it's North Carolina BBQ, so nothing of value was lost.

If Lexington-style disappeared tomorrow the world would be a slightly better place.

Still better than South Carolina BBQ.

Big fan of BBQ. I don't care were it comes from, or how it's made, what sauce is used or a dry rub, I couldn't give a fark....

Chicago, Texas, NC, Memphis, etc. It's all good.

I'll even eat Mongolian BBQ and Koren BBQ!

All BBQ establishments outside of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas should be shut down.

I am right.

Fixed that for accuracy

Let's be honest, Wilbur's is about where Bill Ellis BBQ was post-Hurricane Floyd.  It's passable BBQ relying on it's name and reputation from 30 years ago.

If you want proper BBQ, you want B's in Greenville.  If you want upscale, Skylight Inn in Ayden.
If you want to have to loosen your belt at the table, Parker's in Wilson, family style.
If you want brisket, go to Texas.
If you have no taste, there's KC and Memphis styles.
If you have no sense, there's SC mustard and Alabama white sauce-style.

Wilber's BBQ?

Uh...what sort of meat did they serve?

I used to go to their first location in Rosslyn VA, back in the day when you might find Lee Atwater hanging around the bar.  For Memphis Style Q, it was really good in the beginning.  Then they went all full blown chain, and the quality dropped off.  It's still better than truck stop BBQ, but not always by much.

No.  The "North Carolina" is redundant.  If it's not from North Carolina, then it's not BBQ.

Actually it's pretty good. There was a guy trying to review every BBQ place in NC. He rated it pretty highly and said he was amazed when he realized it was a chain. The other chains that put out good Q are City BBQ and Old Carolina.

The only item left on thier menu that is still any good is the Brunswick stew.

Cool....I worked in Rosslyn back in the day. But living in Fredneck, MD. Where we had one right around the corner from my house. Which meant I went there once a year because when my folks drove down from NY, they wanted BBQ (southern style)

heh-heh...little did they know...
