Didn't the GOP already decide that there will be no Republican primary for 2020?
They're gonna follow Dumpy all the way into the abyss.

I mean, if Howard Schultz was serious about what he was saying and not playing at running for President to stroke his ego, he'd run as a Republican.  He'd do a bit of good that way, returning Republicans to merely being greedy, and not religious and racist bigots on top of that.

But there is no Republican Party anymore.  It's all about Trump now.

In context it wasn't even that bad, but as a soundbite it is devastating.

I'm not exactly sad about it, but much like the Dean Scream it feels a little cheap and unfair to ole JEB.  There were so many better hills for him to die on.

There is some hard derp in the GOP.   And if it is to survive, it needs to shed that part of the party.  Lord willing, it would pick up some right-leaning democrats to make up for their loss.  It's a civil war that's been brewing for a while, and it might be at our door.  If I"m lucky, I'll be able to go back to the GOP again when this is all over.

Did someone say "ship?"  S.S. Trumpatross.
It is an ancient Mariner,
And he stoppeth one of three.
'By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,
Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?

The Bridegroom's doors are opened wide,
And I am next of kin;
The guests are met, the feast is set:
May'st hear the merry din.'

He holds him with his skinny hand,
'There was a ship,' quoth he.
'Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!'
Eftsoons his hand dropt he.

Sorry, JEB!, but even your own party is attempting to prevent other Republicans from running against Trump.

The RNC voted unanimously to provide their "undivided support" for Trump in 2020. Every single one of the committee members. Your own party has betrayed you, JEB! - and it's unanimous.

So, now that you've clutched your pearls and cried your crocodile tears, JEB!, are you going to do anything about it? No? Then sit down & shut up. We've heard enough lip service and pointless pleas from spineless Republicans unable or unwilling to contradict their Mere Leader.

Your party refuses to even consider impeachment, even as Trump commits felonies, violates the Constitution, and undermines the country. Your party stonewalls meaningful change if it means upsetting the apple cart in which your billionaire donors ride. Your party is happy to back Trump even as he handwaves neo-Nazis murdering protestors, Saudis murdering American reporters, and North Koreans torturing American prisoners to death.

Don't farking whine "won't someone do something about that terrible man" when you helped install him.

2019-03-15 11:59:35 AM
The republican elite, who have always presented themselves as tough, unlike those weakling Democrats, have been letting the riffraff they used to get elected run roughshod all over them. They're a bunch of wusses.

While it may be true that the elite can't get it's people elected w/o the derpers, the reverse is also true. Neither side has the numbers alone... and the derpers don't have the cash. And yet, the blue blooded, rich republican wusses are letting a bunch of rubes call the shots. I get that playing a game of chicken against the derpers is not that great of an idea, since they're stupid and won't blink. But if the rich aholes just take the hit the one time, they can deflate the egos of the derper trash when they overplay they hand and lose big time. There will perhaps be some monetary loses if the Dems raise taxes and whatnot but in the long run, putting the derpers in their place is the only sensible move. Their current strategy is to oscillate between Dems being elected or derpers who won't listen to them. There's no real upside for them in this system. They need to break out of the loop or they are farked.

There is no "part" of that party - the entire goddamned RNC, every last committee member, voted unanimously to support Trump.

That is the Republican Party now. Nothing of the host remains.

The GOP did have a choice. In 2016, they had plenty of choices, and a couple of them were even reasonably sane. Trump was every bit as ignorant, bigoted, childish and unhinged then as he is now, and the GOP chose him. The people the GOP has elected since then continue to choose him at every turn, rather than doing what is right for the country. This is what the GOP is.

The establishment candidate along with the establishment is still mad at losing. Nobody was more disappointed than they were on election night except the Hillary supporters. What he means by 'destroy' the Republican party is 'wrest control away from establishment forever'.

2019-03-15 12:06:31 PM
Republicans are worthless shiat. It's better they be destroyed.

Maybe right wingers will re-form into a party that can rationally espouse their ideals. Presuming they have any kind of ideas left based on rational concepts. Which is a stretch at this point.

But being a bundle of shiat, hypocritical evil liars that love nazis and white supremacists? You all need to give this stuff up.

The funny thing is after Trump who the hell will they run? The base seems to get whipped up by a temper tantrum throwing ahole that acts like a tough guy. Will they ever vote for a milquetoast Bush, Ryan or Cruz again. Or will the GOP have to put forward people as bad/worse than Trump?

Trump should face a primary opponent, but that Kasich and Bush and various other "True Republicans" aren't willing to run only to crash and burn says something about them knowing that will be the result.

2019-03-15 12:11:21 PM
The only saving grace Jeb Bush has is that, of all the 2016 Republican primary candidates, he refused to endorse Trump (even as Jeb's own kid did so.) Jeb became a pariah among the Republicans for doing so, even though it's now downright prophetic. Jeb did get a lot of shiat for sticking to his guns, no pun intended, so I do have to give him small credit for that.

Jeb's wasting his time, though, asking Republicans to run against Trump in 2020. Why Jeb Bush still thinks of himself as a Republican is beyond me.

2019-03-15 12:12:06 PM
Meh.  We were assured that the GOP was dead after Nixon, and again after Duyba.  But it came roaring back each time.  This won't be different.  American voters are farkin' stupid.

That's what Weld is planning to do but the RNC is rigging the primary against him. If you actually want an opponent for Trump maybe work on that.

You're looking at beaten men. Their party has deserted them, mocking them in the process. They can't bring themselves to leave the party, though, because that's their entire goddamned identity - to do so would be akin to suicide, psychologically and ideologically speaking. As the admittedly lame song goes:

The sun has gone down and the moon has come up
And long ago somebody left with the cup
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns

That's JEB!, in a nutshell right now.

I suspended voting for repubs in 2010. Ended my registration last year. I'm not sure what it would convince me to ever vote for a Republican again.

spongeboob: Didn't the RNC vote to cancel the Primary?

No, the RNC voted to let themselves be swallowed whole by the Trump Reelection Committee.  The *Trump Reelection Committee* decided that there would be no primaries.

And by 'The Trump Reelection Committee', I mean 'Their owner, who has a hand firmly up their ass, Vladimir Putin'.

I don't get this, because Republicans have been jumping ship on this Wall thing. They have to know that it was Trump who lost them the House.

Shouldn't they do what they do best and think about their own futures and try to get a Republican President who doesn't suck so much?
