So are they not winning the superb owl now? Is that guy running backwards down the street whispering? I'm so confused..

The Browns might want to limit Hunt's touches when he returns. They should see what Ray Rice is up to these days.

Pretty good deal for the Browns though:  Kareem Hunt will forfeit $303,529 of his $645,000 base salary with his 8-game suspension, with a chance to earn $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses upon return. He'll then be a restricted free agent next offseason for the Browns.

That's cheap.

Eight games is about right, assuming he doesn't appeal.

So the Chiefs do the right thing and tell this guy to take a hike, and lose out on going to the Super Bowl (Well, maybe. Having him definitely would have helped). While the Browns get to have him for practically nothing, fresh from not playing half the season, for 8 games and the playoffs if they get there? The world is fun isn't it?

He'll be eligible to return just in time for them to need a fresh body. This was shown to be a successful formula last year for many teams.  Bring in a fresh player, especially a running back.

I mean, KC probably could have stowed him on the inactives list for the rest of the season, though I doubt the Player's Association would have looked too highly on that move...

Considering how well other Chiefs RBs have produced before and after Hunt (Spencer Ware before, Damien Williams after), I'm not yet convinced that Hunt is anything more than a system guy.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but this deal was blown way out of proportion. Obviously, he shouldn't have kicked her, but by the woman's own friends admissions, she was being way out of line and wouldn't leave the apartment when asked/told to, was yelling racial shiat and just generally being a drunken dumbass. I'm not going say the 8 games is unwarranted, but I'm also not going to say that he deserves anything more than that (but I will say that I think KC jumped the gun a bit in releasing him).

I do not defend what he did at all and think he's a piece of trash, but if you're (for all intents and purposes) suspended when an incident happens, your punishment should include the equivalent of time served.

Absolutely.  This isn't an 8 game suspension, it's 5 regular season games from last year, 2 playoff games from last year and 8 games next year.  That's 15 total games.

Basically a full season suspension

Not sure what you're suggesting.   Should the Chiefs have gotten extra credit for booting him?
The 'right thing' is subjective.  One can argue that the Browns did the right thing by grabbing a big talent on the cheap, while everyone else was scared of the optics.

I mean, if you think the Browns did the wrong thing, then don't lament what he brings to their team.    And if you think Chiefs did the right thing, then don't whine that the decision hurt them.

================================================

I'm pretty sure that's the veteran minimum or close to it.  And I doubt he had much choice.  It was the Browns for nothing or never play again.

If it works out, there's massive upside for nothing.  If it doesn't... you threw away almost nothing.  It's an almost guaranteed win for them.

But you get a guy like Hunt, a guy with baggage, and OBJ a known whiner with massive baggage.... it could blow up.

Either this season is going to go REALLY well or blow up spectacularly in the Browns face.  Being the Browns, it'll probably be the latter.
