You're being snarky, subby. I get it. People submit snarky headlines because when it comes to getting the modmins' attention, that's pretty much like throwing a dancing squirrel in front of a dog. You saw that movie, right? About the guy with the flying house and the dogs kept going SQUIRREL every time they saw a squirrel and forgot what they were supposed to be doing? That's basically how Fark works when it comes to headlines. Sometimes when the site goes down it's because someone submitted an extra super snarky headline and all the modmins are just standing there, panting, looking down at it instead of pressing the "Do Not Crash Site" button, which needs to be done about two or three times an hour.

But I want you to think about this. Beto did lie about not running, that's undeniable. It's a proven fact. Which means that not only did he lie, but he lied about something he wanted to do. Think about that. I mean, it's one thing to lie about something you don't want to do. People lie about things they don't want to do all the time. For example, your wife says to you, "Honeybunch, my mother-in-law and sister want to come over for dinner tonight. Is that OK?" And you're sick to death of those shrill harpies, you hate them, you want to tie them up and feed to feral hogs like they tried to do to Hannibal Lecter in that movie, not the one with the flying house and dogs though. But last time you told your wife this she wouldn't have sex with you for two months, so you say, "OK, that's fine" and then go drink half a pint of whiskey in the basement. That's a lie, but it's a lie with good intent.

Beto's lie, though -- he's not lying to spare your feelings. He's lying to mask his intent. He wanted to be president, but lied about it and only stopped lying when he couldn't lie about it anymore. You know who else lies like that, lies to cover up their true intentions until it's too late? Serial killers. If you meet a serial killer in a bar, and he wants to take you home and behead you with a machete and rape your corpse, he's not going to say that. He's going to say you're pretty, and that he likes your eyes, and that you remind him of someone he met years ago, and when you tell him about how you like hiking he'll tell you about the month he spent hiking on the Appalachian Trail, but not the part about the hikers he killed. And you'll like him because he's interesting and funny and when he offers you to come home with him for a drink you'll know that it's not just a drink he wants, but you'll be thinking it's just one of those things people say, you know? And you do want a drink, and maybe a little more. But not getting beheaded and having your corpse farked. You don't want that. But that's what you're going to get.

So, you know, I'm glad your snarky headline got you a greenlight. But don't let your celebration stop you from understanding that there's a very real reason here to be concerned.

Well this is certainly unforgivable. Now I have to change all of my Beto-running-for-president plans.

Hopefully he'll be impeached for this.

Why can't they just fire him?

2019-03-15 09:57:41 AM
I guess that means we can go after anyone in the Trump administration whenever they change their mind on literally anything, then?

So far, the best attacks the right can muster against Beto are "But he's not really hispanic!" and "But he said he wasn't gonna run!"

shiat, now I'm feeling like we need to nominate this guy.  They really have got nothing on him.

OK, so we'll give this lie the attention it deserves.

...

And now that that's done, on to Trump's first 20 lies this morning.

He got a DUI one time like 20 years ago, and there's a pretty sexy picture of him to go along with that story... they'll probably try pulling that out again... or, like Pizzagate, they'll just make shiat up.

It's one of the things I'm actually really starting to despite about politics.  People who should lead a country should be people who try.  When you try you occasionally fail, that failure shouldn't be continually used against you.

It reminds me of Parks and Recreation when the perfect candidate running for congress was a guy who just said the right things and say in his office all day looking at the wall.  More and more people are falling for the fresh faced narrative, all that means isn't you haven't done anything remotely memorable.

The GOP has no tolerance for people who lie.  That's why Manafort, Cohen, Flynn, Gates, and Papadopoulos are no longer working for Trump. Once he found out they lied, he acted like a boss and fired them.

Once again, dumbfarks in the MSM confuse lies with broken promises or changed minds.

Let me clear it up for you goddamn farking morons: "I saw a bunch of Muslims celebrating in NYC on 9/11" is a lie. "I'm planning on doing X, Y, Z on some amorphous future date" and then not doing it is a broken promise or a changed mind.

Farking idiots.

2019-03-15 10:46:53 AM
Beto changed his mind because his sense of duty to America demanded that he do so.  Republicans don't understand duty, not even as an abstraction. Beto is the best thing to happen to Republicans since Obama.  He won't hold them accountable for their crimes.  Given that 2021 will see an America governed by an angry Democratic Congress with an electorate hungry for Republican blood, they're going to need someone like Beto to protect them from the consequences of their own actions.

Literally everyone sees through pro-Trump efforts to keep anti-Trump people at home. If you don't vote, you're effectively voting for the status quo, which is Trump. Nobody's buying your "but I'm a progressive" bullshiat when you declare years in advance, without even knowing who the eventual nominee is, that unless you get your way, you won't move the nation, even incrementally towards sanity.
