Eh not really news. Who actually thought Boeing would allow the size of the military to be pared down.

That... wasn't a promise nothing would change. He also said we "won't run a charity." So what? Cost plus 25? 10? This isn't going away, I think.

Naw.

He's going to lean on them to "buy American" for defense equipment instead. So Boeing and Mrs Lockheed are good.

How much depends on a variety of factors. All variables will be examined.

How often you stay at Trump hotels
Do you belong to Trump clubs
Do you have Trump properties in your country
Have you granted TrumpOrg privileged treatment
Have your US lobbyists  paid into the 2020 Reelect Cmte.

All the variables will be examined.

Trump not clear on the concept of "public" versus "private, for-profit".

He keeps trying to run the military as a for-profit business. That is not the job of the President. It is the job of the Old Deep State, which when that term was left-wing conspiracy jargon, meant the Owners of Amerika Incorporated, the military suppliers. Trump is irate because the USA doesn't make a profit on its gigantic military spending.

You know who else thought war should turn a quick and easy giant profit? Hitler. No. Not that looney. Stalin. Nope. Socialists don't like "profits".

Pirates? Dictators? Roman Emperors and Senatorial Governors? Now you are getting warmer.

Trump also doesn't understand that we humans trade with people so we don't have to fight them to the death for their resources. And that we humans have diplomacy so Trump's favourite game Jaw-Jaw replaces War-War. And that human economies are inter-dependent and that they can't all run surpluses always.

And that world peace is not worth fighting for. It is worth STFU Foo' for.

This explains why Trump's adminstration exempted 89% of China's steel exports (i.e. the culprit's) and only 1% of Canada's steel exports (i.e. the friendly next-door neighbour's and economically colonized "BFF").

Do you recall that giant Indonesian development where Trump has a stake slapping his brand on the hotel section of the deal which China mysteriously invested $150 million just after this shenanigans with trade and tariffs?

Trump doesn't even bother to avoid the appearance of graft and corruption. He outright boasts how smart a deal it is.

If Congress didn't step up and put an end to that crappola, Germany and Japan would simply say, then leave, but first do a full environmental restoration of your former base. No way in hell the Pentagon wants us to abandon our bases in Germany and Japan. Putin does however. That would obviously make him very happy.

Trump would demand too much and undermine relationships with key allies.

Vladdy like.

Charity has never had anything to do with it. We have bases in Germany and Japan for our benefit, not theirs.

Looks like FSB Agent Tяump's plan to leave NATO wide open for a Russian invasion hit another snag.  His master won't be pleased.

Well, that's better than how I parsed TFH:

US Allies No Longer Threatening to Extort Trump

I would bet that at least one has its own kompromat on Trump & Co.  Wasn't there a column somewhere speculating like that a year or so back?

I'm getting really tired of reading and hearing this administration's Weaselese.

Normally when you station your army in a foreign country, they don't pay you for the privilege.  In fact history indicates quite the opposite.

"Monumentally stupid."

Covers Trump, Trump's family, Trump's presidency, Trump's associates, Trump's policies, Trump's general intellect... I mean, seriously, GOP, is this how you wanted this to go down?

Exactly, but that's not what's coming out of the mouths of our leadership these days.

Here's the thing Dum-dum Donnie:  If they country is paying for the troops (especially "cost-plus") then they aren't YOUR troops anymore, they are mercenaries working for the client, who gets to determine where and how they fight

Better that than make Blanche's sexuality known.

We're past that point....
