Knives have many more uses than killing things. Unlike guns they are actually a tool.

Wait, you need an excuse to carry a knife? Why would someone need an excuse to carry an inanimate object?

When will they GPS track all the pillows that could be used to suffocate someone? When? Huh?

Because you could kill someone with it and therefore it's cost exceeds it's benefit.

In many countries, if you use a firearm for self-defense you will be charged with an offense.

I don't think that they have the bandwidth or the staff to monitor every knife in the UK.

It doesn't farking work like that.

Because, they don't understand how it works they treat GPS like magic.

/ I suppose you could probably put a USB port on the handle to charge the GPS. Still, that doesn't do anything to increase their bandwidth to the required level

It's possible to build a fairly small GPS tracker that doesn't use much bandwidth and has a long battery life.

It requires the use of a radio network designed for that sort of thing though, and those aren't widely deployed yet.

I've worked on this, using LoRaWAN. Range is a few miles and the battery life could be a couple years. It's still pretty bleeding edge and it's gonna make for a clunky knife.

Nope. The intended use is pet tracking and it will need a better enclosure along with epoxy encapsulation to survive. Dishwashers will remain a problem.

If you can't open a beer with your gun, then how can you even pretend to be a sport shooter?

Also makes an effective hammer in a pinch1.  Just make sure it's unloaded first.

1Technically true of most things.

I work in a restaurant.  Every day I handle maybe two or three hundred knives a day.
These knives are in turn handled by maybe a hundred or so guests each day.
They use them to cut bread, cut vegetables, cut meat, cut this or that.
Do you want to put a license on every one of them?  HA HA HA!
(Oh, and EvilEgg ,guns are a tool, just ask any Scout)

What a ridiculous political compromise. Everyone knows that if you really want to solve the problem of murders and assaults in Britain, you are going to have to go all out and GPS track candlesticks, ropes, wrenches, and lead pipes as well.  This politician really needs to get a clue.

I would say back to him, "The hand can be used as a knife!"
