Thanks for making it clear you only care about preserving your legislative power, but insane bigotry and wasting government money are OK.

Sen. Bennet is pointing out the idiocy of Donnie and his wall on cspan now. Hitting the highlights of failed to get Mexico to pay, failed to get republican controlled Congress to do it and now desperation by Donnie to ignore the Constitution.

Yeah, sure.  Now that the end result is in no doubt, RMoney suddenly gets the courage to stand up for what is right.

Just show the asylum seekers the video of how Mitt blows out birthday candles and they'll probably decide to stay in their country of origin.

Not to mention he won't vote for overriding the veto, this is a show vote for Republicans to pretend they care.

He know that there are enough Trump Drones that he doesn't have to worry about it being close enough for him to worry about when it comes down to an override vote.

Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of emergency on the southern border over the last 100 years. According to this year's sample, it would be a Twinkie... basically the same size as this one.

The second that the next president tries to do this. I'll bet the rest of the Republicans will have a different opinion on presidential authority

Rand Paul was the last consequential no vote. Anybody just now announcing their vote on this is just riding coattails.

The real vote will come when Trump vetoes it. Then, we'll see who actually cares about the separation of powers and who just wants to be a mushroom sucker.

Well you never know.  I agree the odds of an override are about .0001% BUT maybe the GOP is starting to get a whiff of the huge range of other stupid things Trump could do by declaring an "Emergency".  FSM knows it's not like Donny doesn't have a penchant to abuse his power.

He's from farking Utah. Like someone will vote for a democrat there. I guarantee you Trump can come out later today and say all Mormons are pig farkers and he still will get 99% of their vote because "he's being folksy" or some crap like that.

"A physical barrier is urgently needed to help ease the humanitarian crisis at the southern border"

I guess if we build it high enough and thick enough we won't have to hear the wailing and crying of the children stuck on the other side.  That will surely be easing.

The real test will be to see if he maintains his stance after he has a taco bowl dinner with Trump.

So it will pass the Senate around 52-48.  Then it will be vetoed.

After much hand wringing and proclamations that approximately 10 Republicans will vote to override, the Turtle will sigh and say that won't get us to 67, so I just won't bring it to the floor.

I don't believe that the Senate will have to vote again.  After Trump vetos the disapproval, wouldn't it go back to the House to override?  If the House doesn't override the veto (and it doesn't look like they will), then I don't think it would go to the Senate at all.

So in a sense, anyone voting with the resolution now knows that its meaningless posturing.

well, actually closer to 45%

It looks like Mormons at large actually find Trump appalling and if his opponent had been anyone except That Woman, he'd have been the first Republican to lose Utah in 50 years

This is what is going to kill them next fall.

Voting to rebuke Trump and then voting against overturning his veto is a club that will be used to beat them about the head and shoulders on the campaign trail.

If the GOP gave even a tiny shiat about stopping the orange shiatgibbon's abuse of power, there'd be no question that they'd pass the bill and overwhelmingly vote to override a veto. Spoiler Alert: They don't and they won't.

Most likely case, even if the House (which would vote first) manages a 2/3rds, the Senate can just ignore it.

It's my understanding that McTurtle doesn't have the option of not bringing the resolution to a vote.

They're going to vote at 2:15, I'll believe it when I see it. But if he does he deserves credit for doing the right thing on this at least.
