This is a dumb take.

So basically phone porn will extend to the full face of the screen.

Headline is hyperbole, but if they wanna see my O-face that bad, I'll email it to some random person at Samsung and tell them to direct it to the Jack off pics dept.

Does subby think that people will go out and buy a phone with a hidden front facing camera and just not know that it's there?  Or does subby think that the front facing camera not being visible is somehow, in and of itself, a privacy issue?

So many questions.

As long as they don't forget to tell you it's there, like a microphone on a thermostat, I don't see what the issue is.

If it's embedded under the LCD, I guess it makes it more inconvenient to put electrical tape over, so there is that.

If someone is pointing their phone at me, i'm gonna assume they're filming me, regardless if i can see the camera.   But then again, i'm paranoid like that.

Why would someone need to tell you that there's a front facing camera on their phone?  Maybe I hang with a weird bunch of people, but we really don't use each other's phones and thus would not have the front facing camera pointed at us.

Some phones have a fingerprint sensor underneath the glass, too. So it's taking your picture AND your fingerprint and sending it off to Timbuktu!

Really nothing to see here. People biatch about the "Notch" on phones, the manufacturers are trying to get rid of it (with popup cameras, slide out cameras, cameras under the display..) Under the display is difficult, because of the OLED. LG is working on one, but they've only got about a 50% transparency for the OLED, which affects the camera underneath it.  What Samsung is doing is different, they're cutting a hole in the OLED, which means there's NO image around the camera. LG is going to put the camera UNDER the OLED, which means there can be an image on TOP of the camera (probably not while the camera is actually taking a picture though).

I can't see the microphone on the front of my phone. I bet it's secretly recording me!

That photo has a lot of classical composition and staging elements.  Like all the various expressions and suggested emotions are similar to the ones in The Last Supper.

If they could put the camera behind the screen, and have it work, it would make video conferences better. People could look at you, instead of slightly down
