What if you come for the Muppet screams?

2019-03-14 09:54:51 AM
Growing up, the only present I ever got for Christmas was a bag of those Muppet screams. A different one every year.

2019-03-14 09:54:53 AM
One Christmas I bought the fake boxes from The Onion to package my gifts. Should have seen the weird  looks. I think one was a Make Your Own Umbrella set. 'Only 3000 parts' or something like that.

I would have liked those skulls...

Obvious Plant is not always so obvious.

Why do you hate fun?

For X-mas I gave my 5-yo niece a toy hidden in this box. My sister was disappointed it wasn't a real thing, then she realized she had enough stuff around the house and in her garage she could probably create something similar for her daughter.

I found a copy of the email I got back in 2016
.
.
Yo! Thanks for emailing about my sword! Here are some answers to FAQs you might find helpful:
.
How much you asking?

$300 obo. Will also consider trades for vintage Shrek memorabilia.
.
How big is it?
Two to five feet. It varies in size depending on the purity of heart of whoever is holding it.
.
What's it made out of?
The base of the handle says it is a sorcerer's blend of volcanic-forged steel and enchanted magic.
.
So it's legendary?
Yes. At night it glows a bright radiant yellow and attempts to pull me into the dark woods on the edge of town. It's super annoying. That's my TV time so, you know, not really interested in trundling off on an epic journey.

Also, sometimes it whispers incoherently in an ancient dialect.
.
These things aren't what I'm looking for in a sword, but maybe you're more adventurous. If you have any other questions, please nail them to the north side of a gnarled oak tree on a cloudy night. The sword will find them.
.
Thanks,
.
Dave

I have a bunch of those. I think I got them at some convention or another to use as counters for games. Was like 2 bucks for a couple dozen. Wasn't marked as "skulls of your enemies" though

Had a guess it was Obvious Plant from the headline. He does good stuff.

In my job role I'm often reading off serial numbers, cryptic error messages, etc. over the phone. Thanks to one of my early coworkers who was in the USAF I learned the NATO phonetic alphabet.  (Although for some reason I often say "indigo" instead of "India"... just some mental block.)  When I found ObvPlant had created a phonetic alphabet I printed up some copies for my current coworkers who are trying to learn the legit version.

As someone who's worked in retail, I have to say that I despise Obvious Plant because you know damn well that people have thought those were real products/signs/etc and some poor store employee has had to deal with their crap as a result.

F*ck Obvious Plant and anyone else who thinks it's funny to make the lives of retail workers even more hellish for a "joke."

Then there's the "fanatic alphabet":

Aisle
Bdelium
Czar
Djakarta
Eulogy
Fanatic
Gnat
Hour
Iwo Jima
Juanita
Knob
Llama
Mnemonic
Ngwee
Oedipus
Pneumonia
Qatar
Rwanda
Szold
Tzar
Urn
Veldt
Wright
(or was that Wrong?)
Xylophone
Yttrium
Zweiback

Only wonder how many times people tried to by that stuff. Watching to counter person must have been fun.

I've worked retail and even three decades ago if there's only a single product in the system with a UPC that doesn't come up it's no big deal. Manager's discretion.
