She's going to come home from college with "Max Power" or "Mad Max" and you're going to wish old Max was back.

When my daughter was 12, I sat her down and told her we needed to have a talk about sex.

She said, "OK. What do you want to know?"

I've known couples like that. As long a Max treats her like the lady she is, you have won this round of the parental lottery.

Who knows? They might end up like a couple I know who have been together 60+ years (they met when they were 10).

"Should I be worried?"

Yes.

My wife's mother was smart enough to know that you can't tell a teenager to just not have sex. Her biggest part of "the talk", outside of explaining the mechanics and biology, and how not to be a slut and not get taken advantage of was to explain that most likely my wife was a Fertile Myrtle and that above all else, protection needed to be a priority. And she was right. My daughter and one of my stepsons was conceived when my wife was on birth control. I think one was the pill, and one was the Nuva ring.

As long as your kid understands the responsibilities associated with sex, isn't turning tricks in the locker rooms, and knows how to be physically safe, you've done 99% of the work.

I don't want to snuggle with Max Power.
Nobody snuggles with Max Power. You strap yourself in and feel the G's!

Yes you should be worried. Time to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside.

We let our 16yo' son's girlfriend sleep over a couple of times a month. The reality is that teens are going to have sex. Anyone who thinks different is delusional. So we accept that reality and try to provide the safest environment possible and her mom is in complete agreement. I suppose they'll miss the adventure of days past where kids screwed in a woodlot near their school, or in the "family" restroom at the mall, etc. but that's a chance I'm willing to take.

I think the real story here is that Best Friend Max somehow escaped the Friendzone, a nigh impossible feat.

/Isn't that just Ducky

So many missed chances to turn this girl into a raving neurotic.  How is she ever going to be normal like the rest of us?  Maybe I can adopt this girl and bribe her way onto the Brown rowing team.

As someone named Max, I can confirm that we just somehow develop a nigh-uncontrollable allure at that age and beyond that most find impossible to resist.

We didn't encourage, or actively discourage, sex with our sons or daughters. We did try to teach them the about the sh*tstorm that would happen to their own lives if a baby was created. Not from us, just the craziness of having a life you're responsible 24x7 to care for no matter how sick or crappy you feel. Fortunately they had younger nieces and nephews they babysat... when those nieces and nephews were pretty young babies. You want the best birth control in the world? Make a 13yo take care of a fussy 4 month old.

Uh, please reword this in the future.  Unless you're hillbillies or royalty.
