Psh. William Tell was the first to fire an arrow through an apple.

The most surprising thing about this story is that it happened in Nimbin.

Nimbin? One of, if not THE drugs capital and drop-out central of Australia? That Nimbin? Not surprising at all.

Seriously, dress like a tourist and walk down the main street. If you're not offered at least some weed within 50 metres, then you must look like a cop.

That's my point, I'm surprised Billy Tell over there could be bothered to get his bow let alone fire it at someone.

I was in Nimbin in '98 and was parking the car when a crusty guy offered us a bag of weed the size of a pillow.  I hadn't even turned the engine off.  We turned him down and as he ambled off he warned me not to park where I had as the cops were really strict on parking.  Apparently carrying around large bags of weed was fine but park in the wrong place and you were in trouble!

Who the hell uses a field point (practice tip) when trying to kill someone with a bow and arrow? Broadheads are for doing damage.....

Thank god it didn't him in the knee otherwise he'd have to give up adventuring.

Someone who lives in Nimbin. Seriously, I doubt that the whole town has two un-damaged brain cells to rub together.

Still, Mr Tell has been charged with wounding, i.e. breaking skin and drawing blood. That's one of the things that almost guarantees some custodial time. Hit someone and leave a bruise.... meh, you could get away with a suspended sentence and community service. Draw blood, especially with a potentially deadly weapon, and his honour will flick-pass you to the criminal court.

Or so it was explained to me when doing jury duty many years ago.

Looks like it functions about the same.

Plausible deniability: "No, your honour, If I'd been trying to kill the c*nt, I'd have grabbed me broadheads"

"The 39-year-old man was charged with assault and property damage offences, and will face a court next month."

Shooting somebody with an arrow should count as attempted murder.

Well there's the problem, he didn't face the screen saver towards the arrow.  The full arrow pierced the phone, but the tip barely got through the protector.

Quite likely will be something like that once it hits criminal court.
