Those idiots seem harmless, but they don't carry insurance and some day will cause an accident and screw some law abiding citizen over.

Why not investigation of Grand Theft Auto, too?   They said the vehicle was unregistered and the title hadn't been transferred to him.

Unfortunately, a few of them are flying monkey batshiat crazy. And armed. Unfortunately, people who believe crazy things are predisposed to do crazy things. You can bet that whenever law enforcement pulls over a car with homemade license plates, they call for -all- the backup.

A few? They're all nuts. There was a thread the other day about sovereign citizens being tasered and pulled out of their cars through broken windows. It was great.

All these nuts' names should be handed directly over to the IRS, because you can bet they haven't paid taxes, either.

There is a very strong overlap between these Sovereign Citizens and the Bundy Ranch Stand-off types.

They are far from harmless.

Timothy McVeigh, of the Oklahoma City bombing, was caught because his getaway car didn't have license plates and he got pulled over. These are not the brightest bulbs, but they are dangerous.

This is the most likely way they can harm others.  Most of the time they just get their fool asses tazed by P. Barnes.

This one cat in Arkansas did shiat like this, was pulled over regularly, and paid for pretty much everything in gold. Not sure how his smaller transactions were handled, really.  But, I respect his looney commitment. Kinda.

Just shoot them.  Respect their viewpoint.  Of course, that means they are foreign nation-states invading the Us, and it is perfectly legal for Americans to repel foreign armies.  Kill a few of these farkers, and this shiat will stop.

My ex and I (story was when we were together) bought a car in Florida a few years back and we were moving to a new state. We didn't want to register the car in Florida (and pay taxes twice) the folks we bought the car from didn't give or leave the plates on the car...... Lss we put on a homemade plate on the car and since we were pulling a trailer we never got stopped.
No problems....

As a "sovereign citizen", I guess you didn't pay for those roads, did you? You know, since you don't pay taxes because you don't recognize US currency. And I don't think I want you driving on the roads that I paid for. Those are my roads. They belong to me. I paid for them with my taxes. And you have no right to them.

I've always wondered how someone goes down the sovereign citizen rabbit hole. What happens in their life that they decide that this mind set might be of benefit? Do they read an article? Watch a video? Read some graffiti next to a public toilet? Talk to Uncle Cletus?
Has someone told them that any of these tactics actually work? Or provided them with any success stories?

Or is this just wishful thinking after reading some gibberish off a website that drives these people to abandon common sense? What is the draw?

There's a lot of YouTube channels and traveling "spokespeople" that go around preaching the sovereign citizen mantra. One would note that, much like many such things (like a guy selling seminars on how to get rich with real estate, who doesn't do so himself, but instead gets rich by selling the seminars) the people doing so often don't act on sovereign citizen theory themselves. Often they say they would, but the government is just SO CORRUPT they're waiting for the right time.

It's the same deal as Anti-Vax. It's a combination of paranoia, distrust of the government and thinking that they "got one over on The Man".

/ Once you get into a sympathetic forum, it cocoons you away from anything that conflicts with your world view

I blame social media and internet catering to gullible people. These people used to be the extreme fringe, but since social media these morons can watch one Youtube video, or a shiatty clickbait blog that preys on stupid people who believe "If it's on the internet it must be true".. And boom. A new breed of entertainment for us. Hence the reason most videos of these idiots sound like they're reciting a script or literally pulling out papers from their glovebox or sun visors to recite their stupid as shiat strawman laws..

I'm almost willing to bet the same people who recite this shiat also have a spouse who sell Younique, Herbal Life, Doterra Essential Oils, and LuLaRue
