Did that happen before or after Nancy told them to pound sand? Ya, this totally fell apart because Trump said no heh.

TwoHead: Did that happen before or after Nancy told them to pound sand? Ya, this totally fell apart because Trump said no heh.

And I would find it hard to believe that Trump would understand what the Senate GOP's counter-proposal actually does for him in the first place.

GOP: Hey boss, we got a way for you to get what you want but we need to make a deal to protect ourselves.

But that doesn't let 'em off the hook for 'didn't think this clever plan through' now does it?

Oh we're WAY past absurd. Have been for a long time.

This. Trump didn't decide fark-all, Nancy kicked the legs out from under the whole thing already.

Somewhere, I read that it was Tillis and Tomey pitching (!) and Pence catching. And Pence went back to the Trump dump to sell it. Unsuccessfully, obviously.

Fark Pence. He's worse than Trump.

2019-03-13 05:45:52 PM
Right. Not that Pelosi already announced they were rejecting it in the House.

Stupid farking idiots expecting or believing Trump would keep his word deserves all the scorn.

2019-03-13 05:46:41 PM
I said in the other thread, Trump did not agree to this and will not stick to it.

The proposal was cynical and evil but unusually clever for this group. Of course Trump rejected it.

2019-03-13 05:48:25 PM
But Shiathole decided against curbing his own presidential power, GOP senators said. "I am Piggy J. Shiathole, the Bigliest Shiatnificent, and what I shiat, shiats," he proclaimed.

I hope you GOP senators are happy with the choice you made, sticking to that witless ape no matter what.

2019-03-13 05:48:37 PM
The fact that Pelosi said she wouldn't back it, and then days later Trump got it out that he would shut it down too is terrible optics.

It went from 'pelosi vs. trump and GOP' to 'Pelosi and Trump shoot down deal for whatever'. Trump could have shut the hell up and let Pelosi take the heat for shooting down a bill that technically is a decent idea if you remove the context of 'GOP wants rules to protect them, but never limit their actions', and now Trump can share blame with democrats.

Really great PR there guys.

But the beauty of it is that it's another unforced error.  The GOPers are a craven batch, but if DonnyDumbass keeps kicking them like that, he runs the risk of enough of them turning on him.

^He's more clever so more dangerous. Trump and pence need to go at the same time. Pence is a fascist who wants to ban abortion and put gays in concentration camps. The guy is like christian Isis

But what do presidents Putin and Miller think of it?

I'm joking, we already know. They're the real "president" we're talking about here.

Trump doesn't read anything that's handed to him. Just hand him a resignation letter but tell him it's for Ivanka's new breast augmentation surgery and it needs his signature.

"I look at my colleagues and say, why would you expect a president to give up his power? Would President Obama have given it up? I don't think so," the lawmaker added.

So they do know the "What if Obama Did This?" game. They just play by their own rules I guess.

Eh, Pence is more clever, but he doesn't have the cult of personality that Trump has. Without that cult-like base of supporters, the GOP would be neutered

That talks disintigrated just from the proximity of Donald (The Deal) Trump isn't really a surprise. But why did Pence or the GOP leadership think this was something Democrats would have ever agreed to?

You'd think after the third of fourth time of Trump pulling the rug out from under him that Pence would figure out to try to stop making promises on behalf of a person physically incapable of keeping them.

...reform the National Emergencies Act of 1976 and require Congress to approve future emergency declarations after 30 days.

LOL, can you imagine if they tried to do this to Executive Orders as well? Mr "I've accomplished everything ever accomplishable times a gazillion" would actually not have anything to show for 2 years in the WHite House.

Oh, I know. Living in IL, and having family in OH, we meet up in IN quite a lot, and I hear about Pence every time I stop.

He is evil. He doesn't have Trump's bombastic nature, but Pence has a "genteel" veneer - People think he's "moral", but he's an evil fark.

The point was never to actually accomplish anything, it was to hammer the Dems with voting against the Nat Emerg, but refusing to limit the power that grants it.  Rather than recognizing that the real problem is the racism and lies behind the "Emergency" to begin with.  As usual from Republicans, it's nothing but lies and refusal to govern.
