Those poor cartel leaders. Don't people know that the instability of the oil market is the work of OPEC.

We'll frack in the Permian Basin until there isn't a vertical structure standing between El Paso and Midland.
Then we'll convert to electricity.
Hasta la vista OPEC.

Yeah, good luck with that.  The Boomer generation still hates them from the '73 embargo which created an crisis in the states, and the upcoming Generations hate them due to being an Oil Cartel, and their vast array of human rights violations.  When Trump pushes policies to hurt OPEC, its one of the few stances he can take that won't generate significant friction from his opposition.

I still remember waiting in gas lines in 1974, oh, and the year before I got my license, the national speed limit was reduced to 55.  All because of the opec oil suckers.  They have farked with world for so long...

Fark off assholes.  you will never be the good guys.  anywhere.

Yes, talking about how you regulate things is going to go over GREAT with the energy sector here. If there's one thing GOP fans love, it's regulations and regulators.

Plus it helps Russia.

And we have a winner! Russia is involved in this since they are an oil exporter, but not in the way you think it will. Russia, because of the type of oil they have and the outdated equipment they have to process it, needs oil prices above roughly $75/barrel or they don't make any profit. OPEC wants to keep prices high as they can to make as money as possible, so what benefits OPEC benefits Russia.

If we were to break the cartel, oil prices would fall like crazy as every one tried to sell as much oil as they could pump out of the ground. This would ruin Russia's economy very quickly. It would also make it nearly impossible for many of the middle eastern countries to buy massive amounts of weapons from Russia and the US or fund terrorist groups to kill each other.

All of these are net positives for the US and the world as a whole, especially eastern Europe.
