If you told me that back in 2001, I never would have believed you... But Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence is farking brilliant!

I'll add Joe Cocker's version of "Get By with a Little Help from my Friends".

Reznor does not agree with this statement.  He admitted the song was now Johnny's.

Our avoidance of pain is not a good thing. Shiat hurts for a reason.

Bypassing a mechanism evolved to aid recovery or prevent further damage is not a good thing.

Great interview, great reply. Trents song is epic, Johnny took it up a notch.

If you've had 3 double hip replacements, there is no "avoiding pain." It is an ever-present companion; and I would never try to deny someone a medication that allows that person to work and function in society.

//kinda tired of good drugs getting misused and hence, a bad rep

Sorry... did you, um, hear both of them?

I love Trent. I've seen him play Hurt live a couple of times. It's very good. Cash's is better.

I have, and still prefer Trent's.  I like Cash's version, but think the original is the best.   Cash did change his version of it.   He didn't want to sing "shiat" I guess.

I agree. I love me some Reznor but Johnny took the song to a new level.

I did acknowledge that in certain cases pain is just unhelpful.

Personally:
1 for compound fracture of tib/fib.
2 ops on blown L4-L5.

The first, fine - I couldn't damage it any further and the pain is all-consuming to the point of rendering me an idiot mute.

With the spine events, though, I ended up in casualty where they *forced* painkillers on me despite my rejection of them for being completely useless.

"But, you're in big scary PAIN!". No shiat. Now I'm in pain and woozy, How's that an improvement?

However, as a culture, we're just terrified of pain and will do the stupidest shiat to avoid it, thereby exacerbating the underlying cause of the pain whilst getting as many people as possible addicted to life destroying pain meds.
