That's roughly on par with an average Category 2 Atlantic hurricane and could challenge the all-time low pressure record for Kansas.

I live in Kansas... I am *not* getting a kick out of this!

To be fair, you could still fly over it.

Yeah, we're quite farked. Predicting an inch or rain followed by 12-18" of snow, followed by 60mph winds. And that's on top of the two feet of snow we already have on the ground. If my house floods, I'm walking away, all the way to CA, and I'm not looking back.

Having lived through somewhat similar events (AKA inland hurricanes), I'm glad my Mid-western days are far behind me.

Now about that PNW "Big" one ...

This is going to dump rain on the same areas that were shut down for two-three days of blizzard just two weeks ago. I am sincerely worried for my cousins in southeast Minnesota.

not to mention it's getting warm enough to start melting the several feet of snow on the ground.

no snark, for once in my life: don't drown, turn around. way less water than one might think can spell disaster for a car.

Bah. The media is always looking for something to hype and "bomb cyclone" is a wonderfully sensational term. There will be a bit of wind and rain. Then the world will move on.

A little west of you. Went down to the liquor store before the power goes out (it's flickering a bit) thinking "Oh it's not that bad". Nope. Roads are shiat. Slick as hell. Stay home.

Not like it has not happened before.
Of course in 73, weather predictions were not very reliable.  We were expecting slow flurries.  Woke up the next morning to a blizzard and spent the next few hours rescuing young calves from their pastures. We were able to save them all.  Many of our neighbors were not as lucky.

Oh goody. Much of the Dakotas and Minnesota drain into where I live. We need to build a big wall on the border real quick.

If you'd rather burn than drown.  Sure it's cool now but it's warming up.  And typically it keeps warming to about 1400 degrees.

Yeah, winds reached 90. Stripped some siding off my house. I25 and I70 shut down. More importantly the National Guard had to rescue 1100 drivers and a CO state trooper died. Just a bit of rain/snow and wind.

Much of eastern Nebraska, southern South Dakota and Western Iowa is facing historic levels of flooding  just due to the runoff.

All of the snow we've accumulated over the past 3 months melted in the last 36 hours. The ground is still frozen so nothing is getting absorbed.

I've lived here for 50 years and have never seen such widespread flooding around here.

And now this system is supposed to hit yet today adding even more to the mess. Lovely.
