It helps that the transportation secretary is married to Mitch McConnell.  Those two soak up 47 times their weight in excess reality.

Just watching the presser from Canada's Transportation Minister grounding the 737-8 Max's in Canada's airspace, getting a kick and all that.

Did the article mention how the software update was delayed 5 weeks due to the Federal Govt shutdown?

Maybe this week's crash could have been prevented if Herr Dumpler didn't have such a hard-on for his wall?

wonder how that relationship is going considering she was pressured into taking a 737 flight yesterday....

The funny thing is for years I wanted to work for them. Good pay, job security, old skool WA state corporation.

I'm way better off. Fark their bullshiat.

I wonder if this phone call has any connection to yesterday's weird ass tweets about Einstein being his pilot.  Can he just override the FAA or whichever department is responsible for these matters?  If so, that's rather troubling..

Yes, it's called "do this or you're fired."

Glad I'm not flying anytime soon.  Good luck to those of you who will be on one of those planes.

Would anything end this idiot's presidency like a plane falling out of the sky? Holy shiat.

Honestly, if you didn't suspect this in the first place - you haven't been paying attention.

Russia said they didn't hack our election, and I believe them.
Saudi Arabia said they didn't murder and dismember a journalist, and I believe them.
Rocket Man said he didn't know anything about warm beer, and I believe him.
Boeing says their planes are fine, and I believe them.

If a Boeing 737 goes down carrying US passengers with a US origin, the lawsuits against Boeing and airlines are going to break every single record of jury awards in history.

At least 5 complaints from pilots about the plane, the refusal of the FAA to ground them, and the airlines for not voluntarily taking the out of service is going to be used against them in all future lawsuits.

And, this just occurred to me, given that Boeing has been warned by it's pilots, the families of all the victims of the previous 2 crashes would likely have standing in a lawsuit against Boeing as well now.

His base either live in trailer parks (and can't afford to fly) or have private jets.  The rest of us don't really count as human, so why should he care?

Boing assured me that their planes would bounce, not crash.

Don't be silly, the problem is that planes are just too complicated today, once he brings back steam powered aircraft everything will be fine.

Eight years for a 70 year old is most of his remaining life.  His life is over.

2019-03-13 12:33:50 PM
I work in the aircraft industry, and we keep up with Boeing to ensure there's always a backlog of AC coming in... Since Trump has been President, Boeing has gotten REAL cozy with the administration, including items such as 'not selling commercial jetliners to Iran', or, 'selling aircraft to Vietnam during Trumps trip to Vietnam.' They know the score - Donny Boy thinks planes are big, strong, symbols of power *grunt grunt*.

And so he lets them do shiat like this; endangering americans without concern as he is totally all about picking favorites and getting kickbacks.

2019-03-13 12:34:05 PM
Crap, I'm flying to Maimi from SFO on a Boeing Max 8 in April. I am not happy about this.

Canada just banned the jet from even entering their airspace. Expect other countries to do the same.

The next one that goes down is going to be full of Americans, on US soil.

Fark Dennis "I'm a racist just as much as Trump!" Muilenburg right in the damn ear.  He's a hardcore Trumper, and I hope he gets his ass pasted up against the wall, considering that HE was one of the lone holdouts for Trumps "Economic Advisers Forum" who resolutely did not leave over Trump's Charlottesville comments and the killing of that girl.

Screw him.  He makes it farking real hard to root for Boeing in anything with him at the helm.

Used to be, whidbey, used to be. Now you have a 401K instead of a pension, automation is going to take out a LOT of jobs in the future.
Actually, I wonder how that is going to play out -
https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/boeing-overhauls-its-quality-controls-more-high-tech-tracking-but-fewer-inspectors/

Hubby put 35 years of his life there. My dad and I machined parts for planes that probably are still flying. The company changed fundamentally when they merged with McDonnell-Douglas and not for the better.

This makes me embarrassed for everybody connected to the plant and VERY pissed that they cheaped out on the design of a new plane. A reporter yesterday pointed out that Boeing has long recouped the development costs of the 737 and chose to simply modify the design to accept the new engines. The 787 cost 30someBillion to develop and outside of grounding for the lithium battery issue, they've never lost a bird. Yeah, Boeing has lead the Dow for the last couple of years with profits; they chose to put money over product.

I wonder how presidential candidate Governor Inslee is going to spin this?

Duh. The current US Secretary of Defense is a former Boeing exec. This administration has been cozying up to Boeing for a while.

Ahhhh, I don't think so.

They had them grounded, yes. But they didn't say, like Canada now is, you can't even enter our airspace with one of those death tubes.

ya know, Trump (et al.) should fly around in a 787 Max 8 as a display of their confidence in its reliability and to own the Libs.

Uh...there's nothing wrong with that.  He has a preference for Boeing jets.  Nothing wrong or unusual.  Some people switch planes just to fly Airbus metal.

So honestly, I'm not sure that most adminstrations would handle this differently other than communication. I don't think it's a coincidence that China(which wants to build commercial planes as part of "Made in China 2025") and Europe(home of Boeing's only large competitor) were the first to ground those planes.

Making airplanes is a big economic activity for the countries involved. It isn't surprising that the US acts biased in favor of Boeing or that the EU is biased in favor of Airbus.

Yes, repeatedly. As many times as it takes to restore people's confidence. Hell, let him fly it.

Yep.

There is a map of 737-8's in the air right now, they are only in US airspace. That map, last night, had planes over Canada as well with none elsewhere.
