I guess you don't need to overturn Roe v. Wade when you can just go after the abortion providers with some lawyers and say they aren't entitled to money for providing abortions.

Planned Parenthood isn't an abortion provider. It's a health services provider, a small fraction of whose services is, yes, abortions (including medically necessary abortions).

Don't let reich wingers control the language!

In addition to direct donations, those who use the Amazon Smile program can set Planned Parenthood as the recipient. It might not be a lot of money from the individual purchases, but every bit helps.

This should be is direct link: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/chpf/change/ref=smi_se_dshb_change_cycsc

There you'll see the spotlight charities, and then " Or pick your own charitable organization: " and a search field blow those five. Search for Planned Parenthood, and it'll pull up a list.

"Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio" is on the list, too.

Wonder how many abortions Trump has forced women to have?

Sorry, scratch that link. This is how I got to it:

1. At the top of any smile.amazon.com page, you'll see "Supporting:" with your current charity just under the store search bar. Hover over that.

2. On the right side of the popup, there's a link reading, "Your AmazonSmile Impact"

3. On the top right of that page, there will be your current charity, with a small "Change Charity" button above that. Clicking on that button will get you to the page I linked above.

4. You can then search for Planned Parenthood there. Just be aware that anti-PP "charities" are also in the list as well.

I love these people. They constantly scream about people having sex and making unwanted kids and having abortions. Yet they're against EVERYTHING that will reduce the number of unwanted kids and abortions. They don't want people to be taught about sex and contraception, they don't want contraception to be easy and cheap to get, and they refuse to let go of their religiously-mandated fear and hatred and "holiness" of sex to see it as a natural process of population replenishment and genetic passing. But then they expect their proven-useless idea of "If we never ever mention sex around each other and our kids then nothing bad will happen" that only causes more pregnancies, abortions, and problems. Compare red and blue districts and their rates of teen pregnancies, STDs, and abortions, and see how much higher the red districts are.

Just like with everything else, conservatives and Christians reject everything that's proven to work and rally around the things that don't work and in fact make things worse, solely because of their fear, hate, and unwillingness to change.

Any one who is counting on the courts to rein in Trump or thinks the Trump era will end in 2020 or 2024 need to pay closer attention to the new appointments. The senate let vacancies sit open for years under Obama and have been packing them in since Trump took office. It could be decades before the judiciary recovers.

Not too far south of Columbus, on I-71, is a barn with a massive Confederate flag painted on the roof. I'd see that and think, "If this is the South, where the fark is the North?"

During my junior high years (early 90s), AIDS was enough of a threat for my school administrators to give the abstinence-only shiat a a rest and teach us how to protect ourselves. Especially after Magic Johnson got HIV.

I went to HS in Africa in a country where HIV+ rates peaked at ~40% of the entire population.  The local Anglican Bishop handed out condoms during the service, and aggressively lobbied the government to provide free condoms.

CSB: This was during the Reagan years when competence in government was not highly prized (never thought it could get worse, but here we are).  The US shipped a massive donation of condoms of various brands.  Unfortunately a significant number of them were the brand 'Black Mamba.'  In cultural context this is would be like handing out condoms called "penile leprosy"  or "sandpaper castration" in the US.  They ended up in the dump.

Among those services are cervical and breast cancer screening, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS treatment and education of teens on how to avoid pregnancy.

Among the services which this law did not defund: abortion.

While women have a right to abortion, third parties such as Planned Parenthood have no guaranteed right to perform them, wrote Sutton, an appointee of President George W. Bush.

That doesn't sound like it's even limited to money.  "Third parties have no guaranteed right to perform abortion" sounds like this judge would be perfectly fine with the laws being changed to "Women can get abortions, but it is illegal for doctors to perform them."

Granted, I'm not in OH and only share a border with it, but I must've been on the tail end of the derpitude while going through school, too. When I was in 5th grade, I remember getting the full sex ed lesson with terrifying videos and everything. Same in 7th grade, except in a health class.

By the time I was in high school, the school's health center got in trouble because they had a giant fishbowl of free condoms on the counter for anyone to take what they needed, no questions asked. Parents went nuts about how the school was "encouraging promiscuity" -- funny how they only ever said it would make girlsmore likely to have sex, though.

Have you learned nothing?   A bunch of teen-aged smirking MAGA-hatters caused a kerfuffle last summer in DC.  There are plenty of youngsters waiting in the wings to replace the ones who die off.

Overturning two lower court decisions and bolstered by four new appointees of President Trump, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, by a vote of 11 to 6, rejected arguments that the 2016 Ohio law imposed unconstitutional conditions on the state's distribution of federal funds.

4 of the 11 judges voting for this were appointed by Trump.

This is exactly why conservatives love/tolerate Trump.  McConnell gets a rubber stamp to remake the judiciary for decades to come.

It's not about law, justice, or duty to the country for Mitch and the GOP. It's all about abusing power and trying to make the people they hate suffer.
