Anyone with firsthand knowledge of either of their time in college to vouch for Half Sciop's acumen?

I mean besides the story about Dotard smacking Half Scoop on the noggin in the dorm.

The Trump family is real world proof that not only is America not a meritocracy, but being rich means you don't have to be smart, good looking, talented, skilled, or have any sort of work ethic in order to succeed.

I don't think Uday's wife leaving him had to do with his cheating so much as the fact that she was about to inherit a shiat ton of money and wanted to keep his hands off it.

When the elder Trump ran for president, he had his attorney Michael Cohen pre-emptively alert Fordham that he would sue them if they released his grades.

But releasing grades is already in violation of FERPA regulations.  The school would be legally barred from releasing grades unless they had been given prior authorization (as a matter of record) by the student.  Am I missing something here?

Hence my question.  Are schools really in the habit of releasing the grades of elected officials despite that being in violation of federal law?  I used to work for my school's registrar and part of my job was processing and mailing transcripts, and the legal hoops were pretty significant. This seems like a rather unnecessary tactic and I'm not sure the point.

Of course, he's apparently oblivious to the fact that it's mostly rich people who participate in canned hunting at lodges or catered trips into the Alaskan wilderness to shoot trout.

Northwestern medical center just fired a bunch of people for looking at Jussie Smollett 's medical records.  Some allegedly leaked information. They are barred by law for doing so.

Point is, even though the laws say information can't be released, sometimes it is. That's why Cohen put the fear of Trump's hungry attorneys in them. The schools were doubly sure to safeguard the information.

You're giving the Trump family way too much credit.  I mean, you're expecting them to:

1) Know the gist of privacy laws in relation to student records.
2) Realize that those laws apply to them.
3) Have the self-control to not default to "I'LL SEE YOU IN COURT!!!!"

Now, given what we know about every adult member of that family, can you imagine that any of them are capable of any one of those items, much less all three?

It's a combination of ignorance and paranoia. He didn't know that schools couldn't do that. He also believes someone would "leak" his grades because they don't like him. He was getting ahead of a problem he created himself by calling for Obama to release his transcripts.
