I like how everyone in the comments is blaming Nike and the store gun policy, when they're probably selling more Nike stuff than ever and never sold a lot of guns to begin with. Maybe their problems have got a little something to do with the fact that the retail sector has been getting hit hard by internet sales for years now.

With Sports Authority gone, all of those lesbians getting ready for summer softball league better like Dick's.

Piss off 80 million gun owners who decide to shop anywhere but Dick's and it has an impact.  Turns out gun owners also hike, hunt, fish, canoe, camp, backpack and do all kinds of other outdoorsy things besides just buy an occasional gun.

None of those items are being sold to them by Dick's anymore.\

Go figure, Mr. City-Boy CEO.

I'm sure he's crying himself to sleep over his company's 9-figure quarterly net income, or that 19% increase in its stock value.

And I just bought a pair of walking shoes from them yesterday.

This totally invalidates the sales figures the story is reporting on!  Thanks for the dose of reality!  How can we reach you for future anecdotes?!

Don't forget to also take into account that there are a great number of people who like to camp, hike, fish, hunt and canoe that want nothing to do with the 2nd amendment tacticool crowd.

Products at Dick's has been overpriced for a long time.  I have repeatedly he used them as a show Room only to go online and find similar or even better quality for lower price.

Which anecdote, the company's net income or its stock price?

My point is that the 2A nutters are taking credit for a supposed "impact" on a company's bottom line that is pretty much nonexistent in the current retail environment.

In the article it stated a 19% increase since Dick's first decided to remove semi-automatic guns from their shelves in late February 2018.

But the stock wasn't performing well long before it started to remove guns from its stores.

Was anyone buying guns there in the first place? The strip mall sporting goods store is not generally my first thought when it comes to my firearms needs.

I own a lot of guns, I enjoy shooting, but a sporting goods store deciding they dont want to be in a market where consumers don't think of them as anything but a 3rd tier afterthought in the first place isn't exactly offensive or rage inducing to me...

Pro tip: When looking up the nearest Dicks location, make sure to use quotation marks to Google "Dicks Sporting Goods".
