Odds on Donald feeling insulted by this and tweeting that he is worth it?

2019-03-11 04:12:06 PM
Is she saying this because the GOP has the Senate?

2019-03-11 04:13:04 PM
Well, at least she's consistent.

You said earlier you don't feel it's worth it to pursue impeachment. Do you believe he's fit to be president?

Are we talking ethically? Intellectually? Politically? What are we talking here?

All-All of the above. No. No. I don't think he is. I mean, ethically unfit. Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit. No, I don't think he's fit to be president of the United States. And that's up to us to make the contrast to show that this president - while he may be appealing to you on your insecurity and therefore your xenophobia, whether it's globalization or immigrants - is fighting clean air for your children to breathe, clean water for them to drink, food safety, every good thing that we should be doing that people can't do for themselves. You know, I have five kids, and I think I can do everything for them, but I can't control the air they breathe, the water that they drink. You depend on the public sector to do certain things for the health and well-being of your family, and he is counter to that.

But again, this is coming across too negatively. I don't usually talk about him this much. This is the most I've probably talked about him. I hardly ever talk about him. You know, it's not about him. It's about what we can do for the people to lower health-care costs, bigger paychecks, cleaner government.

**BOOM** That'll hurt his fee-fees 10000 times worse than being called out for his blatant racist stupidity.

On one hand, no other president in the last century deserves impeachment more than trump. On the other, it's not just Trump that needs to be defeated, but the entire putrid MAGAt empire that needs to be buried and salted over.

And that requires an election. This country deserves the opportunity to tell Trump and all the other crooks to go eat shiat en masse, right before they're indicted.

2019-03-11 04:18:29 PM
What she said hurts him the most: You're not worthy of my time or attention

It's not about him.

It's about the rest of us.

God damn it Nancy!

Nancy Pelosi is trying to turn down the fire on impeaching Trump among democrats.

Recent polls show there isn't much support for impeachment at this time.

In other words, she is trying to tell people to calm down, let's not just the gun and just let Congress do their job laying out the case against Trump. After that perhaps, as was the case with Nixon, there will be more support for impeaching Trump.

Majority public support for impeaching Trump isn't there, yet.

2019-03-11 04:22:29 PM
After Trump goes, Pelosi gotta go

2019-03-11 04:23:04 PM
She needs to go after his enablers: the GOP.

2019-03-11 04:23:11 PM
Yeah fark that Nancy. I mean, I get what you are saying. You are simply wrong.

2019-03-11 04:23:56 PM
I disagree - he, of all presidents, is worth impeachment. Not doing so only normalizes his behavior.

2019-03-11 04:24:08 PM
There's definitely no sense in impeaching Trump if the Senate is just going to vote against it -- it's an inherent weak position that would serve to enable and legitimize the president.

2019-03-11 04:24:37 PM
No point in impeaching Trump until Yertle is eliminated.

2019-03-11 04:24:45 PM
Hot off the presses, the President is above the law if his corrupt party holds at least one legislative branch!

2019-03-11 04:24:47 PM
Reverse psychology?

2019-03-11 04:24:49 PM
And while she sat there and bloviated about how Trump isn't "worth it," the Trump administration nominated three or four more fresh-faced young Federal judges from the Bob Jones School of Law and Jeebus Stuff.

Good job, Nancy.

2019-03-11 04:25:17 PM

mainsail: Is she saying this because the GOP has the Senate?

That's my read on it.

This is her saying "look, I want this orange blob of shiat out of the Oval Office just as much as the next person, but there is no way in hell that Yertle's GOP-controlled Senate is going to get on board with this and any impeachment attempt on our part will only serve to galvanize his base in 2020."

2019-03-11 04:25:28 PM
On one hand, it's a pointless exercise since he will never be convicted in senate.

On the other hand, pretty much everything the house does while the maga trash controls the senate, courts, and white house is a pointless exercise so may as well keep yourselves busy doing something that will keep your base pissed off for 2020.

2019-03-11 04:25:28 PM
God damn Nancy Pelosi for looking at the situation and realizing the math isn't there on something you only ever get one shot at

/People seem to forget that Nixon only quit because his closest allies outright told him they couldn't back him anymore at the risk of their own jobs

2019-03-11 04:25:49 PM
Trump has to be worth it to impeach, because there needs to be a stand taken as to what's okay for a president.  If literal treason isn't it, then there is nothing to stop the next level of horrid malfeasance that dethrones him for worst president since WW1 in 2028.

2019-03-11 04:25:56 PM

enry: What she said hurts him the most: You're not worthy of my time or attention

She does have a country to run.

Yes, there's no point in laying bare his vast abuses of the law and forcing people to go on record as supporting them

Cohen testified before Congress 4 times, and only one of those times was public. I'm beginning to think that neither party wants us to know what really happened and this is the new normal.

You have to be shiatting me. He's the MOST GLARING CASE we've had for impeachment in decades.

Shiat like this feels like extortion. "Oooh, see, doing the necessary thing would be uncomfortable and might not work, so let's not even bother."

I hate this.

2019-03-11 04:27:07 PM
I see what she is trying to do... but the more she goes this route, the more she's going to loose those who want movement... right when she is trying to capitalize on that movement.

This strategy will simply leave her in the doldrums, politically.

You have to figure that's playing into her calculations. All it becomes is storm and fury, signifying nothing and accomplishing nothing. Makes the Democrats look like late-'90s Republicans. Their impeachment effort didn't win them any hearts and minds at the time.

That said, I'm sure she'd likely push it if there were the votes in the Senate. But there won't ever be.

The harsh truth is that the American public is not supportive of impeachment.

Pushing against the will of the people with something as divisive as impeachment will poison the well, turning public opinion against impeachment.

The best strategy is to wait until the majority of the American public feels like impeachment is justified. Is that after the mueller report and the resulting legal fallout? Maybe.

If Pelosi does a 180 then, do you think anyone will really care or remember?

You can't say you're for doing a impeachment, until you're ready for an impeachment.

You come at the president, you better not miss.

This plus let me run this by you...   President Pence.  Keeping Trump in office increases the chances of a Democrat being elected in 2020.  If he is gone, there is more than a small chance that Pence could become the next President.  That is not a prospect that is very appealing.  We are getting very close to the next voting cycle.  It really may not be the best move to impeach at this point.

This.

And people need to know if they defy the rule of law, obstruct justice, overthrow democracy, that they will be held accountable from the top down. Justice must be seen to be done.

Pretty sure we had a public opinion poll on impeachment last year.

"Trump?  Not worth it." - Pelosi

TOO OLD.

She blew it when Dubya was POTUS and she's doing it again.

Democrats are craven trash.  STILL.

Remember on Fark when myself and others had concerns about Nancy Pelosi's refusal to impeach George W. Bush as being indicative of an unwillingness to impeach Donald Trump, and we were told to go fark off because Donald Trump was so much worse than Bush and therefore it was inevitable?

Man, those were the days.

2019-03-11 04:29:09 PM
Trump's value is terribly low, correct. But it's not HIS value that earns impeachment, it's the value of his actions. And his actions are very much worth impeachment.

But politically, this is likely the right public position to take right now.

90's Republicans were doing it for partisan reasons, even a teenage me knew that and I didn't follow politics much. This is a completely different situation and the ONLY reason we're talking about it being partisan is because Trump and the GOP framed it that way.

You get one shot at impeachment.  Fail, and the f*ckwit gets reelected.  Oh, and at the moment, you have a Senate full of co-conspirators.

Trump is more useful to the Democrats if he remains in the presidency until the election in 2020 because he is a great motivational trigger for Democrats to get out the vote.

\This is what some Democrats actually believe.

The 90s republicans failed to convict Clinton and THEN he won a second term. Like someone upthread noted, you're only gonna get one shot, you cannot afford to miss it. You risk Trump coming out stronger.

Clinton's impeachment was a joke. Now we have an international criminal syndicate that masquerades as the government of Russia running an asset in the farking White House. And it's looking more and more like there are way more assets around than Trump. This needs to be addressed.
