It's true, there are a lot of flowers here right now.

I'm in California. The forecast for today is snow.

I'm in California and the sun just came out after raining earlier.

Why yes, it is a big state.

You're just down the hill a ways. We're practically neighbors.

/No snow up here yet, either, but it's forecast.
//I have my doubts.

Where you're at it'll all melt by tomorrow though.

Yeah, just saw that 36, especially in Trinity County is requiring chains.   Of course that's about 700 miles north of San Diego.

I'm in Pittsburgh, I have a window open right now for fresh air and it'll be 55-60° tomorrow.

I didn't realize how big California was until I was looking at a drive up the coast.

Driving from LA to Oregon, when you reach San Francisco, you're only a bit past halfway.

LOL.  Left San Diego something like 5 AM Christmas day a few years back, hit magic mountain by 6:30.  That's normally a 3 hour drive.  After 8 hours we hit Sacramento, decided to keep going.  At 10 hours we hit Mt Shasta and got a hotel on the edge of a lake.  The goal was Portland for a bicycle vacation.

Do that on any other day and you're looking at twice the time for the same distance.

Sorry, but 6 and a half hours from Magic Mountain to Sacramento is slow. That's 4 hours if you're moving, 5 hours at a typical pace. You're spewing nonsense. Downtown San Diego to Magic Mountain can be done in  about 1 and a half hours if you're doing over 85. That pace would have you in Sacramento in 5 and a half hours, not 8.

Aren't those supposed to be rare?

*click*

The bloom is the second in two years, an unusual occurrence as the event typically happens once a decade.

Aha. Well, thank God for climate change, I guess. Yay.

This.   Had a guy walk down the docks in Kodiak many years ago, looking for work.  Wearing cowboy boots (he reminded me of the Walking Man from the sound they made).  He proudly announced he was from Texas, like that was supposed to impress us.

Also the largest counties in the US?  San Bernardino County, CA is number one.

The flower bloom sounds beautiful, though it is a kind of warning sign that things are changing.

When I was young, on the road that hugs the coast at Cape Mendocino (in Humboldt County) the lupin (and poppies) would bloom like crazy, making the bald green hills a purple quilt.

You're right!  Freezing to death is a much more humane death.

With all the rain we've been getting, everything is green in California, except of course for what's under 6 feet of snow. Just yesterday, I was driving up I-5 from LA. What's normally a rather dull trip was quite scenic, as if it were some European countryside, even with wildflowers by the side of the road in more than one color.

Even the vacant lot across the street had a few wildflowers. I suspect the junkies will be dancing amidst them in the morning dew.

/ Springtime for junkies in misery.
