A vegan pie has risen to claim top spot in a competition held at the home of the pork pie.
was he telling porkies about the ingredients?

Concoction is my favorite song by The Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association.  They're pretty obscure, you probably haven't heard of them.

My life was recently changed by a chana-aloo curry. I now know what heaven is.

Those must have been some pretty lame pork and beef pies.

If made in the traditional style, this is the case.  Mostly lard or suet.   A vegan curry would not have the burden of tradition to weight it down.

I'm as happy with vegan food as any other food but a sweet potato pie should not win in a pork pie contest.

It's your lucky day. That did not happen.

Let us know when vegan shiat beats out meat in BBQ, smoker, and grilling food competitions.

Until then, keep your rabbit food to yourself.

Not a big fan of squash but I'd try it. Nothing will ever replace actual meat for me though so Vegans need to get that idea out of their heads.

At first I thought 'oh, that's what a British dong looks like when you put glasses on it'. The I thought I read the winning pie came from John Thomas Butchers.

It sounds like an excellent side dish to some good pulled pork.

But Michelin-starred chef Richard Corrigan has lambasted the competition, calling it "pie in the sky".
Speaking to the Telegraph, the 55-year-old Irishman, who has cooked for the Queen twice, said: "Please, please I'm going to cry.
"Pies are supposed to be filled with the most delicious morsels of steak and liver and kidney, with the jelly and little pieces of fat in the middle delicately dripping onto your tongue.
"A vegan pie? Give me a break.
"The oldest culinary art form left in the world and the vegans have taken it away. It's a disgrace.
"The millennials have taken over. It's not a pie competition. It's a pie in the sky competition.
"We should all just retire now."

I don't think chef Richard Corrigan read the rules and entry classes
http://www.britishpieawards.co.uk/classes-for-2019/
Out of the 23 classes only 4 are meant to be eaten cold and jelly is only gelled in in cold pies.
I guess he is also a big fan of eating cold pieces of fat.

I made an amazing pad thai'ish dish with spaghetti squash last week.  I also replaced the peanuts with cashews, and the tofu with chicken.  It would have been nearly as good without the chicken, but I think the tofu would have screwed up the texture.

There are a lot of tasty flavors and textures out there, don't be afraid to try something new.

Noodle dish recipes that try to use spaghetti squash instead just piss me off and make me wish for actual noodles.

Where? I mean, if it was at a restaurant I'd like to know given proximity, etc.
