True. Still, we need to organize the tribute. We need a pier, a cello and a bald eagle.

Well damn.  I suppose my parents went through this with movie stars from their childhood dying off, but it's jarring hearing that one of mine did ... "and he was 'how' old...?"

Then I glance in the mirror and the reality of time marching on is readily apparent...

RIP, action-adventure guy.

I remember liking the show as an early teen for all the action (and Jean Bruce Scott), but even then the helicopter seemed kind of shoe-horned in. How often would you really need a super-copter to help you solve crime?

Charles Bronson - THE MECHANIC - Ending (spoilers)
Youtube JSCid-iOoe0

Truth be told, he basically died that way, minus getting blown to bits.  If that scene were real, getting blown up in the middle of nowhere (I assume; it's been awhile since I've watched this) would not be noticed for awhile.

/one problem with that ending:  he was in a freaking convertible.  He tried to open the door.  Just jump the fark out!

Because nobody cared.  He was living a sad but quiet life out of the spotlights after decades of alcoholism and drug abuse.

I think it was more like a rough last couple of decades. I remember seeing a Dateline or ET or something story on him and how bad a shape he  was. I swear that was in the 90s.
In fact, when they ran the last season of Airwolf on cable,  Dick Van Dyke's son took over for Jan Michael (as the long most Vietnam MIA he was always looking for) I think they dropped Jan Michael because he was so bad off. I think there was a guest star appearance for him and he was barely able to do it.

He was a heavy alcoholic, wasn't he? *looks on google* Yup, and IV drugs. Yeah, he was a mess.

I'm shocked that Airwolf hasn't been remade a few times over already for TV. Hollywood loves to bring back this nostalgia stuff for a lot of the grown man babies that can't let go of anything from their past so why hasn't this been redone again and again?

yes he was a giant mess after he started making all of that money. He basically disappeared and burned all of his money on drugs.
