(NBC News)   Paul Manafort sentenced to 47 months in prison. Judge says he "lived an otherwise blameless life." In other news, are we not drug testing judges?   (nbcnews.com) divider line

OH FARK YOU

Justice is lost
Justice is raped
Justice is gone
Pulling your strings
Justice is done
Seeking no truth
Winning is all
Find it so grim
So true
So real

This does not spark joy.

2019-03-07 07:13:04 PM
Let's hope DC comes through next week.

2019-03-07 07:13:08 PM
This is the worst timeline.

I'm still glad I'm not him.

Said it in another thread.

Rich, old, white, republican.

This sentence reflects that

"Justice" is different, depending on if you and your judge support Team Trump (TM). Disgusting.

2019-03-07 07:13:49 PM
He got a blumpkin from Trump. Didn't specify which Trump bc any of them would have done it.

2019-03-07 07:13:54 PM
That's it? His other convictions better not be served concurrently.

So potential 25 years end up being less than 4. Bullshiat. Hopefully DC judge gives him 10 more.

2019-03-07 07:14:07 PM
Hah, even PharmaBro got more than that.

2019-03-07 07:14:10 PM
I don't ever again want to hear conservatives complain about judges going easy, slaps on the wrist, and mandatory minimums.

Actually, I don't ever want to hear a conservative again. Just do the world a favor and STFU.

2019-03-07 07:14:13 PM
Aside from all of your criming, you lived a blameless life. So say we all.

2019-03-07 07:14:21 PM
Wow. But get caught with some drugs on ya...

2019-03-07 07:14:22 PM
Dafuq?

Burn it down.  All of it.

2019-03-07 07:14:40 PM
See...when certain people commit treason they get 4 years. When other people commit treason they get placed on lists and get judged by a predator drone at 50,000 ft.

2019-03-07 07:14:45 PM
Add it to the list of examples that there are two tiers of Justice

2019-03-07 07:15:11 PM
Is he eligible for Parole in 2 years?
Does he have to serve 85%?

2019-03-07 07:15:30 PM
The (brown) lady in Texas who voted twice by accident got 5.

Par for the course in this country.

CNN is saying the next judge in more friendly and does not like the government case.

Sergeant Angle: Let's hope DC comes through next week.

Yeah he's got that to go as well. Let's hope for a better sentence there.

2019-03-07 07:15:36 PM
Remember that Trump has installed 39 such judges so far, and McConnell's preparing to grease the confirmation process even more to cut out any input from a rival party.

2019-03-07 07:15:38 PM
I had hoped to drink a toast tonight, smiling.

Instead, I'll be drinking to mourn.

WHITE POWER!

"Manafort also faces a second sentencing hearing in federal court in Washington, D.C., on March 13.
The judge in that case, Amy Berman Jackson, must decide if Manafort, who turns 70 in April, will serve the two sentences at the same time or whether they must be served consecutively."

I don't think he'll make out well with Judge Jackson.

2019-03-07 07:16:12 PM
If he gets the 10 year cap from his other case, he still serves 12+ before there is any chance of release. This is crazy, though. Less than 20% of the sentencing guidelines, and Manafort didn't exactly repent...he tried to suborn perjury, tampered with witnesses, and just generally acted like the career criminal he is.

2019-03-07 07:16:19 PM
And people wonder why I think Trump isn't going to get anything more than a stern talking to, America is farked up.

Rich white man once again buys justice and gets a slap on the wrist.

The only way this is news is that we all hoped it would be different this time.

fark you, lucy, I knew I shouldn't have tried to kick the ball and hoped for better.

I really plan on making arrangements to leave the country. I mean, this country USED to stand for something better..USED to have higher standards..USED to be a bastion of democracy and known for a fair justice system. USED TO.

turn out the lights before you go, the American dream is dead.

Paul Baumer: The (brown) lady in Texas who voted twice by accident got 5.

Par for the course in this country.

The woman in Florida who fired her gun to scare her husband from beating her up got 20

No parole for federal crimes.

Worst timeline.

2019-03-07 07:17:39 PM
Cool. I hope when they release him four years from now.
He doesn't have a cent to his name, and the judge removes all book, movies, interviews, state pension, SSI, lecture fees as part of the deal.

Being 73 and kicked out on the street without a cent might be a better punishment.

2019-03-07 07:17:42 PM
For the first time I think all of these dirtbags are going to get off. Manafort pulled all the crap he did and is sentenced to roughly the same sentence as Cohen.

The leader of the free world. It was a nice experiment while it lasted.

2019-03-07 07:18:03 PM
HA!

2019-03-07 07:18:13 PM
Let's see what happens next week on his sentencing for additional crimes.

2019-03-07 07:18:13 PM
Judge Ellis is the same guy who sentenced U.S. Rep. Bill Jefferson to thirteen years in prison for corruption. What's the difference between Manafort and Jefferson?

2019-03-07 07:18:21 PM
Let me guess: the same people who are surprised by this news are the same ones who are shocked - shocked! - that innocent black men are gunned down by the cops everyday on the streets of this country. Every thread preceding this one predicted the result.

2019-03-07 07:18:21 PM
It's good to be the king white.

2019-03-07 07:18:33 PM
47 months... holy shiat!

Our country is beyond farked

Johnson: Is he eligible for Parole in 2 years?

The federal system does not provide for parole

We still have next week. Hopefully Judge Berman-Jackson throws all the books at him in light of this guy cupping the balls.
