A bunch of incel morons are really angry about a female superhero. It would be really pathetic if it weren't for the fact that these nuts occasionally go out and shoot innocent people because they are so goddamn repellant.

2019-02-26 09:47:00 AM
I want to see it

Every time you downvote a movie with a female lead an incel gets a fleshlight.

2019-02-26 10:08:56 AM
It blows my mind that this is actually a thing.  Are there really that many losers out there who get upset over a female superhero movie?  Get a life!

2019-02-26 10:10:09 AM
I just dont get this behavior. Sexist, objectifying douches DON'T want to see a movie about a skintight suit-wearing superhero lady? Neo-sexism doesnt even make any sense.

How sad and empty a life must be to do things like this. I pity them, but it's the kind of pity you have for an anthill right before you mow over it.

Watching the Superb Owl this year an ad came on for CM and my kids (son and daughter) and their friends were getting jazzed about it. The ONLY d-bag who had to make a negative comment was a Trumper who has his nose so far up Two Scoop's a$$ it would make The Human Centipede's director blush.

It's like they really can't be happy about anything unless they are bringing those around them down.

It's not about sex, it's about politics.  Of course, they chose that political position because of sex, so...

How long have you been on the internet? At least half of the people doing this are just trolls doing it for kicks.

Mythical? He's a neighbor of mine and has carried the torch for Donald, Alex Jones, etc. this whole time. But you're right, a Venn diagram of alt-right Trump supporters and the trolls who are trying to kill this movie before it opens would never overlap, right?

Remember that time Quentin Tarantino got called an SJW cuck for making a two part film about a badass woman with a samurai sword?

Or when Resident Evil was accused of being PC bullshiat for centering the franchise around Milla Jovovich?

It's not about the gender of the main character. It's the childish pushback to the idea that the superhero/action films are not made just for straight white men anymore.

Brie Larson got called a racist and a sexist for saying that for the movie's promotion, she'd like to be interviewed by more women of colour. Some idiots heard this as "I don't want white men seeing my movie".

It's not that she's a female superhero. . .it's that she's made comments during the promotional tour over the movie wanting more diversity in film critics and media journalists.

This crap all started when Brie Larson said she realized most film critics were white males, and when she goes to promotional events, most of the journalists are white males, so she wondered why aren't there more women and minorities in journalism.

. . .cue the right-wing outrage screaming about how she's anti-Christian, anti-White, anti-male, a "SJW", ect. . .screaming about wanting to boycott the film or claiming that she doesn't want whites, men, Christians ect to see her film. . .because she observed that most of the people covering and reviewing her film were white males.

So, cue the trolls and outrage machine going onto Rotten Tomatoes and flooding it with negative reviews.

No matter how many times studios "create buzz" about an average movie by inventing controversy, people keep falling for it. Maybe it shows how modern society has it so good that its members are starving for a cause to rally around.

I know one of those assholes who was bragging on facebook about ripping them a new asshole with his sharp witted and scathing review. Hash tag get woke go broke. Not an incel, married to a woman that I think won't put up with too much bullshiat but is another trumper. Thinks he is an extreme libertarian and truly an anarchist at heart. Has stepson with serious medical problems and lets the state pay for his medical bills.

/bonus stupidity - moved to state with more freedom then kids medical needs weren't as easily covered and blames liberals
//self identified anarchist is the biggest brand fanboy I've ever met, covers all his shiat in company logos

No one would claim that Captain Marvel is an art-house movie. But the MCU has a proven track record of making very good superhero/action movies. To claim that this sexist trolling has been manufactured by the studio to create buzz is Alex Jones levels of conspiracy bullshiat.

Looks play a part not because women are rejecting them over looks but they think they are entitled to date someone considerably more attractive than they are.  The personalities of course help drive everyone else off too.

The worst part is all she said was she wanted more diversity added, not to take away spots from white men just add more.  It's utterly ridiculous.

Thank You Black Jesus!: I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with people being sick to goddamn death of every other movie being about a comic book superhero.

Don't make me post the list showing comic strip and comic book characters in cinema all the way back to the 1920s.

What I will say is that stuff you probably don't think of as "superhero movies" is actually exactly that.

James Bond is a superhero movie. He's a super spy. He has enhanced physical prowess, super science, super gadgets, and faces a supervillain every time.

Basically all Westerns are superhero movies. The hero has an alter-ego ("The Man With No Name", "Angel Eyes", "Billy the Kid", "Doc Holiday", "Trinity", etc.), has superhuman abilities (endurance, amazing aim, guns that fire more rounds than they should be able to, ridiculous luck, etc.), and is caught up in a standard hero's journey.

The Fast & The Furious and most action movies; Superhero movies. Most science fiction; Superhero movies (powers, costumes, heroic struggle, etc.)

How is Rambo not a farking superhero? He is portrayed as superhuman and fights the villain.

Zorro, The Lone Ranger, Terminator, John Wick, Jason Bourne, Indiana Jones -- All superhero franchises.

Honestly, stop whining about "too many superheroes" because you sound like a damn fool. Hollywood has been making superhero movies since the beginning. It's not a trend or a fad. It's one of the most popular story types in human history, going all the way back to stories about gods, demigods, and great mythical heroes. Hercules, Perseus, Robin Hood, King Arthur, Merlin, and on and on. ALL OF THEM SUPERHEROES.

We've been telling superhero stories since we first started painting on cave walls.

I was looking for videos about Assassin's Creed: Odyssey the other night and Youtube "helpfully" directed me to some frothing, angry videos ranting that there is a completely optional female lead character you can play. You get your choice at the start to play a male or female. No big deal, right?

But it was a big deal to these angry manchildren, who dragged out the utterly laughable "Muh historical accuracy!" cries to explain why they were so upset about it.

Nevermind that it's a series about aliens creating mankind and living past lives through genetic memories, and a specific game with mythical Greek beasts in which you can jump off mountains and keep running.

Nah, the really egregious thing that pulls you out of the game is that you can play as a female warrior if you choose to.

Ugh.

These are the same people who a few years ago were all like, "If you don't like the same heroes being in games and movies over and over again, go make your own!"

So people have. Women and people of color are now more often seen in prominent roles. That's just how these goons wanted it to happen, so it should all be good, right?

Of course now.

Fark every one of these people.

Why didn't Wonder Woman have this backlash? Where were the sexists then? It is because it was a good enough movie to not need extra buzz.

They, and their masters, view this as battle in a culture war. They see that the idea of women being capable of being heroes in a traditionally male manner (strength, combat) as an attack on the status quo and are trying to stomp the idea down before it gets a foothold.

Removing the "don'ts" make a great deal of sense, because who cares about someone who doesn't want to see a movie?  I probably see one movie for every 50* that are released, but I won't was time dissing the other 49.  Only idiots and edgy 12-yos bother.

This quote about "A Wrinkle in Time" is what pissed people off at her:

"Our industry has gone through a major growth. We are expanding to make films that better reflect the people who buy tickets. But they are not allowed enough chances to read public discourse about these films, by the people that the films were made for. I do not need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn't work for him about 'A Wrinkle in Time.' It wasn't made for him. I want to know what it meant to women of color, to biracial women, to teen women of color, to teens that are biracial."

That's where it blew up big, but there were rumblings before that. The initial teaser trailer had a bit where the word "her" morphs to "a hero" (I think all the trailers have that), and I saw fuming rage over that on some forums. It triggered the hell out of some of these people. Figured a larger (fake*) backlash was inevitable.

*I say fake because it isn't really a backlash when you had no interest in the movie in the first place. These "anti-SJW" and "anti-outrage culture" people are, hilariously enough, out there looking for things to be outraged about.

See also, the huge backlash and reviewing bombing a Baldur's Gate game expansion received because a minor, skippable NPC character is revealed to be trans if you engage them in a specific set of dialogue choices. Both the character and dialogue are easy to miss, but to read the rage reviews, it was SHOVING IT IN OUR FACE.

Once again, Fark all these people.

Wonder Woman did have this backlash. Maybe not as widely reported by the media, but it did happen.

There's a lot more out there. There was definitely a lot of backlash whenever the marketing for Wonder Woman underlined the fact that she was a woman, or tried to specifically market toward women.

If this doesn't fit your narrative, I'm sorry. Reality can be a biatch to play in.

These trolls don't seem particularly have anything against any single movie starring a woman.  They get upset when they convince themselves that the studio is pushing a liberal agenda to take their movies away and give them to women.  The GB2016 thing didn't just start with a trailer, it started because they heard a thing Paul Feig said.

It's probably castration anxiety.

Ummmm, it very specifically and obviously doesn't have anything to do with that, no.

If it did, Avengers and Thor and whatever else would be getting the same kind of pre-release backlash this and Black Panther got.

But they didn't.

Hmmm, now what sets movies like these apart from the others?

A clue might be in the troll reviews themselves. Those review bombs are telling us that their objection is to seeing women and people of color on the screen so much - "it's anti-white male!" -  so maybe, just maybe that's the problem for these people and it isn't just superhero overload.

You know, since they're straight-up TELLING us that's what it is.

The same people did the same thing with Black Panther, they said they planned to rig the Rotten Tomato numbers of the movie as payback for the what they perceived as slights against them from The Last Jedi. Of course it had no effect because no one cares what they think. Weird that they chose to attack Black Panther though. Not Infinity War, or even Solo. It's like there was something about that film that bugged them.

CommonName2: Why didn't Wonder Woman have this backlash?

Not sure if you are misinformed or are purposely revising history, but yes, Wonder Woman got this sort of backlash too. Gamergate types and MRAs and incels and the like were upset that women were fired up for the movie. They proclaimed ahead of time that it was terrible. They howled with anger when there were women-only screenings of the flick. And on and on.

- Black Panther: Good movie, no controversy.

Come on, you're trolling, right? Black Panther was a huge target for trolls and bigots, who left countless bad reviews because the movie was "anti-white" or "SJW propaganda" or whatever, who mocked black people for taking pride in how awesome the movie was, who used the idea of Wakanda to push racist propaganda, and so on.

If you just weren't paying attention, that's fine. Now you know and you can look further into it.

Otherwise, you're just pushing nonsense.

I mean, seriously... You're either entirely out of the loop or you have some sort of agenda here. Black Panther AND Wonder Woman both got the same group of alt-right, conservative assholes brigading the reviews to supposedly damage them.

Although parts of the alt-right also had enthusiasm for it, because to them it showed the importance of securing borders and keeping other ethnic groups out of your country.
