He got transferred to the VA rehab/home this afternoon. He'll be much happier there. People of (or close to) his generation and people he will have something in common with. Plus, it's not a damn hospital. Well, sorta, but still.

Thanks for asking.

The Caturday thread means it's almost Caturday! I had to spend the night in a hotel last night because the roads weren't all that great and I didn't want to be the area woman on the news who got killed on the highway because she's an idiot. On the one hand, it was nice not having to share the bed with a couple of cats. On the other hand, I couldn't sleep because I wasn't sharing the bed with a couple of cats. Now I get to go home and hope the cats aren't too pissed off.

John, I'm glad your dad got sorted out and found a spot at the VA.

First 21 days are on the Medicare/Medicaid tab (I can never remember the difference and am too lazy to look it up). We may be able to get a 6 month waiver but that is of course iffy. If he does come home (which I doubt) he will need hospice. Doctor said he has 6 months. Just a guess obviously. Maybe more, maybe less.

Always smart not to drive in crappy weather if you have an option. You didn't say what specifically the roads were like but even here in Maine there's a point where I say "the HELL with this".Thank you for the comment on Dad and to ALL of you for thoughts, prayers, and good vibes.

I live in Pennsylvania, so it's a combination of shiatty roads and shiatty drivers. And PennDOT is a never-ending source of delight.

Oh wow. That is a really sharp decline. I guess the Pnuemonia is the major issue..so hard to treat in our older population. As long as he is happy and comfy, at this stage, not much more you can do. At least now you know that he has 24/7 care..less fall risks etc..

How is his mood?

Maine as a rule keeps the roads well cleared. At least in town, on main roads and on I-95. But if you're in the middle of nowhere after a big snowstorm, good luck. You'll need it.

I haz teh cold. Sore throat, runny nose, general bleh...so we are hazing pizza tonight for dins..and I will be hitting the sack early.

Tomorrow I am going to call my neurologist. I have the report..I plan to poll the nurses to see if this is typical behavior for this doctor...if it is, I will be switching. I paid for the test, I should see it. Period. I might not understand all of the report, and that is ok..it just fuels the questioms a the face to face meeting. Onions on the belt and all that.

Turns out he didn't have pneumonia. CHF instead.

How is his mood?

Daughter saw him a little while ago. Said he seems happy to be there. Wifey and I will visit tomorrow.

I have felt like crap the last couple days too. Especially yesterday. Took 3 naps. First one at 9:30am (even after 2 1/2 cups of coffee) and it's not like I got up at 4am. Except for not having nausea and the other, ahem, issue it felt exactly like the flu. Like 4 guys beat the hell outta me and weak as a kitten.
