As always, the Big Company says Truly Meaningful Stuff, like, "We can do better", and "Clearly, there is more that needs to be done", and "We can learn from this".

Is that sort of like them sending Thoughts and Prayers?

Mr. Watson, the maker of the original video, has come under fire from some fellow YouTube users, who have accused him of starting another "adpocalypse" - what many video creators called the plunge in ad revenue from the boycott in 2017 - by shedding light on the issue.
Those critics have said in separate videos online that Mr. Watson should have reported the alleged pedophiles through YouTube's own tools, rather than draw media and advertiser attention to the matter and risk costing them revenue.

Stop depending on Youtube as your main source of income

I fully expect them to punish third parties that had nothing to do with the offending comments....

Do content creators who enable comments on their videos have a responsibility to moderate those comments?

I don't know what a top 10 diamonds video is, and I'm not googling it after seeing it in this context. Is anyone going to explain?

I dunno, elsagate nonsense like this has been a known issue for at least a year or two now and their approach has been lack luster.

My best guess is auto-disable comments on children's media and have a human watch every video before it goes on the kid-only app, which would cut into their profits and take time.

YouTube adds so much content every day that it would take a lifetime to watch it all. They barely have manual video reviews as is.

You have absolutely no idea what's going on, do you? 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single minute.

If you like your free YouTube, your free Google, and your free Gmail, you should probably not campaign for them to hire a million or so people just to watch videos.

Besides, it's not the videos that are the problem, it's a bunch of jackasses commenting on them.

I'm sure it will come to me.

If I've learned anything over the last decade or so, it's that the incredibly wealthy people (mostly younger men) who own/run the most powerful and influential entities online have absolutely no responsibility to the rest of us, and need have no concern at all who is hurt by users of their services. The most important thing on earth is making money. Amen.

Are you sure you're not imagining it? I mean, I'm not offending which clearly means that nobody else is allowed to be.

Skeezy videos that had 10 minutes of benign stuff at the beginning and end to fool the bots and then was really creapt crap in between. Possibly real child porn in some videos.
Also known as diamond gate.
There is a Reddit thread but I'm not going through it.
I learned about it from a video on the channel That Chapter. But that video seems to have disappeared. YouTube seemed to not care but now apparently they do,

The guy Matt that exposed it is getting tons of vids made trying to discredit him...he apparently made a vid acting like an ass asking women if they wanted to be in an adult video.  Somehow this is worse than pedophilia and raping children to the basement dwellers crying about losing ad money from their lame videos on YouTube.

I hope all of this losers that sit in their moms basement playing games and making vids that are crying about losing money all have to get real jobs.  Or these guys gets butt raped by a 1 toothed burglar named Cletus.

Please explain how YouTube is supposed to moderate the comments on millions and millions of videos in real time.

People get outraged over the most impossible shiat and have no idea what the reality is.

Automation is driving jobs to extinction at brisk pace. Only last year, there reports that lawyers would soon be replaced by legal software. So, let's not pretend that there is no possible solution here. YouTube could:

1. Eliminate all comments;
2. Eliminate comments in the children's section only;
3. Eliminate comments for any video that contains an apparent minor;
3. Deploy software trained to erase comments that spot obscenities, common euphemisms for sex acts, and the various spellings for each. So, any comment containing any version of fark, freak, frick, frell, and so on would be eliminated.
