Who knew the Trump Dump® would be a colossal failure? Hard to keep your operating costs down without the illegal housekeeping staff too.

Good I hope this is the first step toward them losing every penny and being pushed into crushing poverty.

The only thing a Trump has ever successfully sold to anyone was that Donald was a good boss.

The Trump name will soon be as toxic as Nixon and Hitler.  They may have their family money, but they won't be making much more (if they're not in jail, that is.)

You're the son of a wealthy, influential man who has had everything in life handed to you on a silver platter, and you name your big project Scion? Jesus fark, man, have some dignity. Might as well call it Prince, or Daddy's Boy.

Who could have known that trying to build a "luxury brand" (Trump-by-association) hotel in a remote Mississippi delta would be a loser?

Why would Democrats be staying in your hotels in the first place?

I thought they're all on welfare or unemployment?

The analyst in the article said "or stay at someplace benign like Best Western." As if people willingly stay at a Best Western. If I have to choose between BW or Holiday Inn, it's Holiday Inn everytime. Had the opportunity to stay at a Hampton for work and I was less than impressed, mostly because of the pair of used women's panties I found in the closet when I went to hang my coat up.

Let's build "luxury" "budget" hotels in rural areas where voters like us! They'll all stay there!

Let's build a huge airplane out of wood!

The Hospitality Industry has changed in the last two years.  It's much meaner and more cost conscious, relying more and more on a captive clientele consisting of weary long haul travelers.

The Trump brand is sure to suffer from these changes.

On the government dime no less.  That is, when they're not out spending our money on lobster with their food stamps.

I'm actually super curious to see Donald's tax returns. When his casinos went bankrupt, he had nothing. Daddy had to float him a 3 million "loan" (in the form of purchased chips that Fred Trump took home). Donny is one child of five, so I don't see him as in inheriting everything of his father's. And his siblings are living relatively modestly - although none are close to poverty, they all "worked" at something.

But after the bankruptcies, Donny started selling - "licensing" his goddamn NAME to put on the sides of buildings, which, well, he's selling something that didn't cost him a penny. So that definitely made him SOME money with zero outlay. The thing that surprised me the most is Trump allegedly not taking the presidential salary.

Wasn't it Wall Street Cletus who said Democrats/liberals aren't even human?  If I'm not human, I don't have money and don't need to stay at a hotel.  Go kill another elephant for Jesus, you skinsack.

Personal fkn responsibility, I see that is defiantly a family trait.

A couple of rich aholes wanted to name their low-end hotel Scion. How farking clueless do you have to be to think that has some marketing potential? It's a word your target demographic doesn't know. And anyone that knows it will think you sound like a dick for picking it.

Here's a story about the crapshow. For the initial public rollout to attract partners, they hadn't bothered to print a brochure, create a web site, or design a log.

The New Yorker - June 26, 2017 - Trump Steaks, but for Hotels
A couple of weeks ago, at Trump Tower, on the same spot where Donald Trump announced his Presidential bid, Eric Danziger, the C.E.O. of Trump Hotels, formally launched a new line of three-star hotels, called American Idea, which will cater to lower-income, rural areas of the country. It was the most blatant instance yet of the Trump family's profiting from its political power-in this case, by shifting from its long-standing focus on luxury markets in order to make money from the very demographic that put Trump in the White House. Within the hotel industry, the event raised eyebrows for another reason: it was unbelievably haphazard. Danziger, though a veteran of the industry, had almost nothing to show his audience. There was no Web site or marketing material, and the logo was just the brand name and a crudely drawn picture of a light bulb. (A company representative told me that she wasn't sure if it was the final logo or a work in progress.)...

...Chawla [the sole licensee] was stunned by how quickly it had all happened. He first heard of American Idea when a Trump Hotels executive called early one Saturday in March. It usually takes three years to finalize a deal, he said, but this one happened in just three months. He confided that the final contract was signed ten minutes before the public announcement. Under the terms of the agreement, Chawla Hotels will convert three aging properties to the American Idea brand and build a four-star hotel under another Trump brand, Scion, which launched, in a similarly shambolic fashion, last fall. (Scion was aimed at a hip, millennial market in places like Seattle and Austin. The fact that its first hotel will be a Chawla property in Cleveland, Mississippi, tells you how that's going.)

Maybe, but Scion no longer exists as a car brand.  Honestly, MAGA Hotels would make for a stronger brand identity.  No self respecting democrat is visiting the middle of Mississippi anytime soon, so no business lost there.

They don't even have family money at this point.  At least not enough that is untethered from obligations to people that you really don't want to owe things to.

Plus you can have trademarks on the same name in different categories of business.  e.g. the Dodge Avenger

I really think he is going to suspend his campaign and walk away with all the donations.

He will simply make up some BS, suspend his campaign indefinitely which means he gets to keep the $$ and not give it back. As long as he doesnt officially end his campaign he can use those funds

he keep taking donations, say the mean democrats are ruining everything and take his ball and go home. Leaving the GOP to pick up the pieces.

Well, also different industries, as pointed out above.  I just thought it was prudent to point out that the brand had disappeared.
