I can only speak for me and mine, but I have never had a doctor "bark" orders at me.

2019-02-16 06:44:16 PM
My doctor has always answered my questions. Granted, I never asked him "does medicine work" but I think my story is every bit as valid as the made up claptrap in the mail

If you express your desire to kill your own choldren and make a running go at other people's kids, I'm just going to take hour kids and give them to parengs ghat actually  love them.  And I'll yell at you the whole time, because that is what you do go attempted murderers

Sounds like the world would have been better off if the doctor kept his trap shut.

2019-02-16 06:51:37 PM
Yeah it's easy to convince anti-vaxxers to vaccinate. All you have to do is be a farking hippie non-doctor and patiently explain herd immunity for a whole goddamn year. And this dipshiat is a doula, so I'm sure she was passing on her nonsense to lots of other new parents in the meantime. Fark her.

Kristina Kruzan, a doula...

[stoppedreadingthere.jpg]

Every single woman I knew in Washington who couldn't keep a job or make it in consulting, eventually decided to train to be a doula.

2019-02-16 06:58:52 PM
If only the concept of herd immunity were easy to explain and generally considered common knowledge for the last 100 years.

People should be allowed to not vaccinate their kids. But in doing so, they also waive their rights to be present in any public place. Go nuts.

2019-02-16 07:07:54 PM
Mom-of-three finally vaccinates her children after 15 years - because she finally met a doctor who didn't dismiss her questions and told her it was for the good of the community

I've been assured that anti-vaxxers did their own research.  Are you telling me they only look at anti-vax websites and never see the reasons to vaccinate like herd immunity and 'your child won't die of a preventable illness'?  Its really that simple?

/go ahead, pull the other one.

2019-02-16 07:08:51 PM
So she risked her kids' lives and couldn't be bothered to do research because of personality conflicts? Then finally met a doctor she likes and decided to do it? Yeah, she's a goddamned saint and genius.

I hope her nose rings get infected.

With plague.

So she couldn't bother to do it for the good of her own kids, but being told it's for the good of everyone else and she's sold.

2019-02-16 09:41:13 PM
So, it took her 15 years to find a doctor as good as the one I got going to the a randomly selected family practice when I got to town?

Jeebus Frist people. You've got a mouth, use it. And maybe quell the feelings of inadequacy when you consult an actual expert. Do you complain about the high and mighty mechanic who tells you that your oil pump is shot, and then shows you the problem? Does that make you feel dumb because someone KNOWS stuff that you don't?

I'm sorry, Snowflake that the mean old facts exist and they make your deeply held beliefs pale...

Why are we applauding this twit for doing what she already should have done? Not vaccinating your children is tantamount to child abuse. So we're basically giving her the Hero tag for not abusing her kids anymore?

Fark that shiat. If you refuse to vaccinate your kids, they should be forcibly removed from your care and placed with other, less stupid family members or, failing that, a foster family. Unless your child has a documented, verifiable allergy to some component of the vaccine, farking vaccinate them.

Colour me shocked that an anti-vaxxer has found yet another way to paint themselves as a victim.

Yeah.  Doctors 'barking orders' is the real problem here, not ignorant people disregarding science because they think they know better,

She couldn't get a clear understanding of the risks and benefits of vaccines and, when she went to her pediatricians, they didn't seem to have any more answers.

Sometimes it's valid to do your own research. Some questions are still up for debate. But others are settled science. It's not a matter of "trust." It's pointless and counterproductive to keep reinvestigating things that have been proven repeatedly.

2019-02-16 10:26:16 PM
I work with doctors on a daily basis, and have done so for years. I have never heard of any of them 'barking orders' except in the ER, or during a code blue, and only then to other staff. But that's to be expected.

I do not know any Doctors who "dismiss questions", and if that has ever been the case, I doubt they would be a resident for very long.

I think the more likely scenario is this woman is an idiot and is making up bullshiat to try to save face when someone finally educated her ass.

Good for the doctor, but my guess is that the number of doctors who bark commands are patients concerned about vaccination is relatively small (though they do exist, I've seen them), and that most anti-vaxxers wouldn't respond to polite answers, or anything else a doctor says.

How difficult was it to understand that the risks were non-existent and the benefits were that her kids wouldn't die of those diseases? Apparently that's too complex for these people.

Oh, so it's on doctors to coddle and "converse" with idiots for ONE AND A HALF YEARS to convince dumbshiats who didn't vaccinate their kids FOR 15 YEARS that they should vaccinate them.

How about, the onus is on the dumbshiat to get a farking clue. We don't have time for your idiocy. Listen to the adults in the room, and if you don't like their tone? then fark off and go fark yourself. If your kids die it's your fault, not the "arrogant" doctors' fault.

Get your kids full vaccinations or you can homeschool your kids to keep them away from everyone else. It might save them. No public school for anti-vaxxer kids. If we can ban peanut butter because it might harm a sensitive kid, then we can ban measles-carriers too.

My parents went to school with kids in leg braces and wheelchairs.  When I was a kid they didn't fark around.  We lived real, real rural but I remember mom driving us 40 miles to some gymnasium where I'd get treated like a pincushion.

It's real easy for us to sit here and biatch about how stupid anti-vaxxers are, because they are. But there's no way to change somebody's mind by yelling at them. It may make YOU feel better, but it's not going to accomplish a damn thing, unless all you care about is feeling better. Stupid nervous people have pride too, and yelling at them doesn't make them any less stupid or nervous. Sometimes just being patient with them is much more effective.
