Call me old fashioned, but I'd be a bit uncomfortable naming a daughter for something you eat.

Yes, and?  This is pretty much how all names got started.  Something got popular, people laid it on their kids as a moniker because they liked it.  Some stuck, most didn't, and then atfer a couple of generations everyone just treats the name as normal, getting upset when the next group of parents do the exact same thing their great-grandparents did.

Clementine is an old name that's coming back, like Hazel.  To me, they are old lady names, but my niece Penelope thinks they are lovely.

Cael (and variations) is actually an Irish boy's name.

It's worse to name a daughter after a character-trait that just begs to be challenged. Chastity in particular is a terrible name to give to a girl.

I'm kinda pissed off about 'pork belly'.
That used to be 'trash cooking' here in the south. You could pick that for 50 cents a pound at the piggly wiggly back in the day. Chop that up melt it down and toss in a mess of collard greens. Yup...good eats.

But noooo. Pork belly is all trendy with long sous vide treatments (which I'm a fan of too BTW).
and searing it off and serving with okra on a charcuterire board.

I never understood that phenomenon. It was like a half dozen rhyming names and EVERYBODY was naming their kids one of the variations.

And then last names for first names: Cooper, Barnett, Beauregard, Davis, Madison, Yeager...

It's hard to be "original" and just like everybody else at the same time out in the 'burbs.

Still gonna end up with multiple kids with the same name in school.  One of my classes had 2 Carries, a Kerry, and a Karri.

My grandfather who grew up in Lubec, Maine used to say much the same about lobster. In fact, he hated it because he had to eat so much of it as a poor kid.
