What, is he refusing to sell weapons to terrorists? He's not raising taxes? He's not granting amnesty to illegal immigrants?

You need to be specific. That Reagan guy did lots of stuff.

Putin's biggest mistake was putting his blackmailed asset into a position where murder-suicide is an option with a push of a button

Just what halcyon days of yesteryear is Trump trying to return us with these types of actions?  Nuclear proliferation, unabated cold war, world wide hot wars?

won't anyone think of the gipper?

And Putin has ruined Gorbachev's.

Thing is, I still don't believe Putin is daft enough to start a nuclear war in Europe when he can just frighten Europe into Finlandization. You can never be so sure about Trump.

This is the sort of shiat where Trump is rolling over like a biatch to do Putin's bidding in which some Trumper jackwagon will try to spin instead as Trump "being tough" against Russia.

The whole point of this treaty was that this type of missile has very, very little warning time between launch and millions dead.
We'll have nuclear missiles pointed at major European and Western Russian cities and each side will have a few minutes, if that to decide how to respond to a detected launch.

It's a good thing we have stable genius calling the shots!

Great, the specter of nuclear Armageddon is back.

Could we stop pretending that the Republican Party is the party of Reagan? They haven't been since Clinton won in 1992.

This is almost as bad as claiming they're the party of Lincoln.

Sin'sHero: Ivanka uses Tarot cards?

The English word trump derives from trionfi, a type of 15th-century Italian playing cards, from the Latin triumphus "triumph, victory procession", ultimately (via Etruscan) from Greek θρίαμβος, the term for a hymn to Dionysus sung in processions in his honour.

Trionfi was the 15th-century card game for which tarot cards were designed.

danvon: Just what halcyon days of yesteryear is Trump trying to return us with these types of actions?  Nuclear proliferation, unabated cold war, world wide hot wars?

Yes to all of this.  It's a central tenant from 1984 that ever lasting war and a constant bogeyman to rail against keeps the populace and news media distracted.  During wartime the people rally around the leader and put up with suppression of civil rights.

Trump's previous gambits with making Muslims, Mexicans and Iranians the new bogeymen hasn't panned out so why not return to the original?  Putin too appears to have changed courses.  Originally he wanted the US to abandon NATO and ally with Russia but that too hasn't worked out all that well.  Back to the Cold War then so that both leaders can tighten their grips on power.

joonyer: What exactly is the benefit of doing this? I can't see an upside.

The nuclear war will be a harsh and unforgiving one, and survival will mostly be determined by luck, but the new society which appears in its place will be free from modern technology and infinitely more fulfilling.

The problem is that, if the computer simulations are accurate, there will be a wave of radioactive mutant superbabies who all look like Donald Trump, and they will try to consume our flesh.  Fortunately, the human body is like a battery (according to our President) and they should all quickly wear our their limited charge.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Meh. Russia is cheating on it and China is not party to it. It has outlived its usefulness.

Yes, Russia is cheating on it, but its stupid to remove ourselves from the treaty.  Possessing Intermediate range missiles do not benefit and/or threaten the US mainland because of the distance between us and our primary threat nations.  What it did was reduce the tensions in Europe and remove the incentives for the Europeans to develop their own intermediate range missiles and independent nuclear forces.

Withdrawing is just farking dumb and pointless, from our perspective.  Its also INCREDIBLY counterproductive because it removes an internationally recognizes club we can bludgeon the Russians with.  We could have easily used their violations of the treaty for sanctions, other punitive measures, examples in diplomacy with other nations of how you can't trust them, etc.  By withdrawing from the treaty, we are literally just eliminating yet another tool we have to deal with the Russians internationally.

The remedy would be to bring all parties to the table and do a multi-lateral update to it, not throw it into the trashcan and light it on fire.

Donald Trump destroys Ronald Reagan's legacy

Really?

Is he DT helping out the middle class, treating AIDS victims with respect, and helping to whittle down the deficit instead of ballooning it by trillions?

No?  than I think Reagan's legacy is just fine for now.
