Lol. Watch for when the eyebrows go up, that's when he's lying. Just like Trump telling reporters on Air Force One that he didn't know about the payment to Stormy Daniels.

Among other tells, Trump lies whenever he says "believe me".  90% of the time he is lying.  It is a better idea to look for the tells for when he tells the truth.

When he tells the truth he acts surprised.  It is pretty funny.  He says something like "that's actually true" and he has an expression of surprise like he has surprised himself in telling the truth.

Roger said he'd testify honestly?  Isn't that what you're supposed to do while under oath?

Roger won't need to testify, and if his lawyer is worth a bowl of warm spit, he won't get anywhere near the stand.

Mueller has all the evidence he needs, Roger will just be there for show and tell.  Then it's just a question of how many die hard Trump supporters on the jury will compromise themselves.

FTFA: I would certainly testify honestly"

I like how he felt the need to point that out without any provocation at all.

"Would you cooperate?"

"I wouldn't lie!"

"Not what I asked, asshole, but I guess that's good to know."

I'm assuming, based on the nature of the raid, Mueller isn't overly concerned with fostering cooperation with Stone.
Stone may be asked to confirm some things but, to date, the story from people called in by the Special Council's office is "Mueller knows everything"

It appears to me to be similar to the Cohen raid and we know how that turned out.  But I hope to dog that Stone gets locked up tight forever.

The sleazeball political operatives who have been running the country for decades need to be put away.

He wasn't charged with anything explicitly related to conspiracy, just the charges mainly related to lying about what seems to be a conspiracy. If Trump pardons this POS... I have a sneaking suspicion he'll get hit with conspiracy charges the minute Trump is out of office. I think you're right - Roger Stone will most likely die in jail. Karma is a biatch.

It's been said that a good lawyer never asks a question he doesn't know the answer to. It's not what Mueller knows, it's what he can prove within the rules of evidence. Even then a jury could f**k it up.

A whole lot of messenging here.

1. Cooperation is bsomething for my lawyer to consider...

Tranlastion: We're already trying to get a deal.

2. I would testify truthfully. The prez and I talked a lot about politics.

Translation: I have a lot to say...

3. I haven't advocated a pardon.

Translation: What I have to say will be very benign if I get a pardon.

2019-01-27 11:15:07 AM
Stone is finished. He's made it clear for decades that is philosophy is "deny everything."  Mueller knows this and wouldn't have had him arrested without undeniable proof of guilt. He doesn't need Stone's cooperation.

2019-01-27 11:16:00 AM
Is the Obvious tag sleeping with the fishes? Of course he'll dime on Trump, if Mueller actually needs him to.

The way to play Stone is to mostly ignore him. Tell him that there's really nothing that they need from him. Let that stew.

Let it stew.

Then let it stew some more.

Stone will do anything to get back in the headlines. He'll give it all up to go out in a blaze of glory. Just don't ignore him. He won't be ignored. Tell him that you have no interest in doing deals with him because you consider him fundamentally unreliable. His word is pretty much worthless. Then he'll reveal the location of bank security boxes with tapes and documents, journals. He'll let you surgically implant a wire in him.

he wasn't charged with conspiracy or treason *only* because that would allow his lawyers discovery, and potentially compromise upstream investigations (*cough*trump*cough*). mueller has him by the short & curlys, doesn't need, or want, his cooperation.  mueller has EVERYTHING he's ever said, written, or texted, in any form, on any platform for 2+ years. I'd bet money he's been the target of a FISA warrant for ages.  his confidence in WhatsApp is a grandpa tech mistake.

It's very possible he knows a piece or two of information that could help put away one or more bigger fish. I'm certain that if that's the case, he'll gladly cooperate in exchange for a Cohen-like sentence rather than getting Manafarked and dying in jail.

If he gets 2 it's because he has juicy info and he decided to testify with evidence that corroborates a theme and takes down someone important, either Bannon, the Trump kids, or Trump.

Cohen was Trump's personal attorney for 20 years, he still got 3 years in prison after spilling everything from his work. Something like 70 hours of cooperation.

The charges brought against Stone are punishable by roughly 30 years. They're also withholding conspiracy for now because of discovery, so if he gets 2 that'd be great, means he had something real gud.

Why would anyone want to listen to this ratfarker's testimony?

His word is worthless. He is a burned asset. If you let him speak, he'll just confuse you further with misdirection, evasion and folly.

He is a waste of any prosecutor's time, and I'm sure Mueller knows that.

Exactly. Stone thinks the whole story is about him and that he can win in court by winning with the American public.
He can't. He will go to jail. He doesn't matter.
This whole thing with Roger Stone is the same formality as convicting all those Russians that will never set foot in the US. Stone is just a stepping stone to the next coviction- get it on the books that he was lying, and that makes prosecuting the criminal motivation of the big fishes easier.
