Persecution of caucasian lawn ornament collectors has just got to stop! Besides, that lawn jockey was only being used to mark the spot where those old civil rights workers are buried.
2002-01-22 08:54:25 AM
you heard what he said, he just tied the rope around the neck so nobody would steal it. It just so happens that nooses are very good anti-theft devices. I use one around my car at home.
2002-01-22 09:01:55 AM
What an idiot
2002-01-22 09:03:18 AM
Holy smoke - it didn't take long to fark THAT site. 206 hits and I get an "Error 502 - Server down or not responding" message.
2002-01-22 09:04:07 AM
Yeah, and I burned that giant cross on your lawn cuz I was afraid someone would steal it...

So that's what happened to Cooter from The Dukes of Hazzard!
2002-01-22 09:10:24 AM
And I only set fire to the cross because I was cold. Those sheets don't stop the wind worth a damn. Brrrrr...

So the cop thinks it would have been OK up until Sept.11th to hang a lawn jockey? The satue is "divisive"?!

"In today's day and age, in light of the World Trade Center tragedy, people are more sensitive. I saw the hurt and devastation and people of all backgrounds working together at ground zero. We should all be working hard to get along. That statue is divisive. It's disgusting," Mr. Beck said.
2002-01-22 09:33:04 AM
I ain't no damn biggot!

Is the symbolism lost on him perhaps?
2002-01-22 09:33:11 AM
Kentucky?! Tennessee?!?! Oh, no wait, South Carolina!!? Uhmmm Mississippi.. errr Alabama!! It must be Alabama!
2002-01-22 09:34:49 AM
I agree with the fact that he's a scumbag.. but is this line really necessary:

Mr. Beck, who was one of several police officers from Ohio who helped New York police and firefighters at ground zero, said the statue was offensive.

So his point is all the sudden more valid because he helped at ground zero? Gimme a break.

Anyone see the south Park about the "richers" moving in?

Anyone else think of that?

And some of you PhotoShoppers, please use his picture liberally.

That guy looks like a bigot
2002-01-22 09:55:53 AM
Bigot: b-i-g-o-t. Bigot.
2002-01-22 09:57:37 AM
"In today's day and age, in light of the World Trade Center tragedy, people are more sensitive. I saw the hurt and devastation and people of all backgrounds working together at ground zero..." WTF does this have to do with the World Trade Center. Yes the guy is a pathetic racist but WTF does it have to do with 9/11. Not everything has a connection to it.

-- reminds me of 10th grade history where I had a Vietnam Vet for a teacher. Somehow everything back to the first written word had to do with Vietnam. Amazing. Of course he lived through over a year of hell and had many friends die in front of him so we gave him some slack. I just don't get these guys who worked the rubble at the WTC for two weeks where everything from Barney (purple f@#king dinosaur) to gang shootings at McDonalds is connected to the WTC.
2002-01-22 10:03:05 AM
WoodyTX: Yeah, that soutpark was hilarious in an "almost too offensive way". Mr Garrison "Lets but a letter t on their yard. Its stands for "T"ime to get out.."

WoodyTX: Yeah, that soutpark was hilarious in an "almost too offensive way". Mr Garrison "Lets burn a letter t on their yard. Its stands for "T"ime to get out.."

Where the hell does one get a black lawn jockey nowadays anyway? They used to all be black, and because they were considered racist, they were all made white. I think you have to have connections to get a black one, or just paint it.
Maybe it was stolen and taken on a cross country trip, like when people go gnoming.
2002-01-22 10:07:33 AM
This is retarded. What are they gonna do, arrest him for being a racist? And all that bullshiat about the cop working at ground zero and anything that he mentioned about the WTC is totally irrelevant.

This article is not gonna do anything but get this guy's ass whooped. There's nothing more ironic than so-called tolerant people kicking the shiat out of someone who's opinion differs from theirs.
2002-01-22 10:10:07 AM
The guy was afraid someone would steal his lawn jockey? Jesus gawd, he should've counted himself lucky that some stupid bastard would take the ugly ass thing!
2002-01-22 10:12:28 AM
The guy's just a dumbass... not an overtly racist dumbass, just an all-around general dumbass.

And maybe a hick too.

If that were a crime, I think 80% of my home town would be rotting in prison now.
2002-01-22 10:15:23 AM
As to not offened anyone I'm going to repaint my gnomes. I'll have a black gnome, a mexican gnome, a chineese gnome, and even a Taliban gnoe......
2002-01-22 10:21:35 AM
How dumb must he think the pranksters/theives in his area are! Like noone who *really* wanted to steal the figure (again) wouldn't either just untie it or cut the rope. If its truly a collectable I can understand him not wanting to drive bolts into it to properly anchor it down.
(I'd suggest getting a dog or two but the statue may get watered one too many times.)
The guy *does* have a right to protect his property, but yes, something is not right with his method. (!)
2002-01-22 10:24:12 AM
if we cant hang statues of black children on our trees on mlk day than terrorists are fat.
2002-01-22 10:24:21 AM
Even dumbasses should be able to figure out that hanging a black lawnjockey is sort of reminiscent of burning people in effigy or even a good old fashioned lynching,Crotchrocket Slim That's carrying the ignorant plea, waaaayyyy too far.
2002-01-22 10:37:37 AM
Chemmie the Racist hates foreign jockeys.

invest in American-born midgets.
2002-01-22 10:46:22 AM
Reminded me of that Simpson's where evil jockey elves attack Homer.
2002-01-22 10:50:54 AM
It seems The Blade "one of America's great newspapers" missed the part where Bubba said he had more on ORDER and whas "a waitin for 'em to git here." Not to mention the other lawn jocky he had with the Cold 45 Malt Liqure in his hand.
2002-01-22 11:07:18 AM
Actually this article cleared up a lot of things for me. One look at Goober, and now I understand why the blow dryer my wife just bought has a tag on it that says it's not to be used in the bathtub. It's all so clear now...
2002-01-22 11:09:22 AM
What is the world coming to when a man can't hang a lawnjockey in his own yard anymore? Next thing you know they will be coming after the lynching noose I keep ready in my backyard. Then it will be my 15ft rebel flag I fly on my 50ft tall flagpole. Where will this new fascism end?
2002-01-22 11:10:22 AM
To expand Shreen's comment, here's a quote from a movie:

"I had to watch my buddies DIE, face-down in the muck so this trumpette, this fluzzy...and by the way Dude, Chinaman is not the proper nominclature...Asian-American, please."

oh and:

"What the fark does anything have to do with Vietnam, Walter?!"
2002-01-22 11:18:48 AM
Is it against the law to put a piece of rope around a statue in my own yard? Will the statue police come and arrest me? Is there a special penitentary for statue offenders somewhere in the US? And where does plastic baby jeebus fit into all of this?
2002-01-22 11:22:12 AM
i believe it's illegal to tie a noose in Georgia...isn't it?
2002-01-22 11:28:26 AM
To all you anti-South jackasses: THIS HAPPENED IN OHIO!

Totsfeld: Ben Jones, aka "Cooter" actually became a member of the House of Representatives, repping Georgia after his "Dukes" days.
2002-01-22 11:32:16 AM
I think that this article forgot to mention that this guy has a part time job engraving plaques.
2002-01-22 11:32:16 AM
Would it be against the law for Fb- to kill him?
2002-01-22 11:32:31 AM
Okay, I admit I was wrong, Toledo is where I would stick the hose.
2002-01-22 11:36:04 AM
In light of the WTC attacks, he should have changed the second one into a hispanic fellow.
2002-01-22 11:37:34 AM

My castrating this schumck could be artistic expression too?
2002-01-22 11:51:11 AM

no one is saying its illegal for him to put that statue up. trust me, the aclu would be the first ones to defend his right to put that statue up (and they are the same ones defending a rappers right to sing whatever songs they want). i dont think anyone is debating his right to be stupid... its just our right to make fun of his dumbass, too.
2002-01-22 11:56:19 AM
Way to over generalise to make a point there SLAYERSWINE... If you judge rap by the narrow sample of "gangsta shiat" that is played on the radio then yes, you can form that view.

But Dre, Ludacris, Snoop are not all there is (try Jurassic 5 for example...) I will stop though, no need to completely derail this thread. Your uninformed statement just bothered me.
2002-01-22 12:00:38 PM
slayerswine (in all caps) what are you talking about? ...are you trying to be more troll-like...attempting to change our perception of you?
2002-01-22 12:02:07 PM
Too bad there isn't a FARK filter on life, eh? Then he would have just hung "attractive and successful African-American" in effigy. Silly people. But rest assured bigots, because so many morons are like the folks at FARK you'll still be able to hang faggots in effigy all you want without a filter.
2002-01-22 12:09:35 PM
Was it his real lawn jockey, or just one of those statues?
2002-01-22 12:17:51 PM
Oh my God. Some of these rednecks have brass balls. I'd buy him a beer. And some chew for his mama.
2002-01-22 12:23:23 PM
Coyoticus: That made me crack up.
2002-01-22 12:32:54 PM
but i guess a gay pride flag, gets applause. i don't think it's right, but at least be fair, regardless of hillbilly status.
2002-01-22 12:38:06 PM
So the consensus is that he's got a right to be an asshole, and we've got the right to make fun of him?

Sounds good to me.
2002-01-22 01:05:33 PM
I save my porch attractive and successful African-American for James Earl Ray Day, Y'all
