(The Hill)   No, you cannot wear that to school. For one thing, those are your pajamas. For another, you've got body parts hanging out all over the place. Have you ever heard about something called a school dress code, mom?   (thehill.com) divider line

Can I meet mom? I can't believe I'm old enough to say that.

2019-01-27 06:05:17 AM
No, no, no.

Listen, you can't beat your kids anymore, you can't enlist them at fourteen anymore, and you can't sell them into servitude.

The only leverage some of these parents have is the ability to show up at school and mortally shame their children.

"OMG, Mom! You can't come here in a crop top and booty shorts!"
"I found these in your closet, they're cute."
"Moooooom!"
"The zebra stripes are fierce, they really go with my stretch marks. Which you put there, incidentally."

Came for the body parts hanging out, leaving disappointed.

Let the parents dress how they want to dress:  It's an effective way to determining, ahead of time, what kind of people they are.

This is why I haven't had kids...if I can't drop them off at school with my dong hanging out the unbuttoned piss flap of a pair of comfy pajama pants, then where will the sacrifices end?

I told the kid, it's your responsibility to get ready in time to make the bus. You miss the bus, I'm taking you to school wearing my pajamas.
Kid never missed the bus again.

\I don't wear pajamas

No dress codes.  This is a fantastic way for society to see the uninhibited behavior of some adults and make judgments.

One of my most successful psychouts with my older son was when I promised him that if I got one more report of him acting badly in school, I would arrive at school in a robe, curlers and fuzzy slippers - and nothing else - then walk through school without my robe.

He knew I wasn't bluffing, and it worked.

How would you ever enforce something like that? Not to mention that it'd never survive the first challenge in court.

I'm sympathetic to the opposition. I'm almost always the hottest person in the room.

I can't go to work in shorts, a t-shirt, and flip-flops. I can't. I'm grateful my workplace lets me show up with short-sleeve polo shirts. I'd be much angrier if they enforce anything stricter than that.

I can't find the video, I recall some Jeff Foxworthy standup on this subject.  He was volunteering at his kid's school, helping with loading kids into cars for going home.  It wasn't how the parents dressed he commented on, but how messy the cars were.  He said, he'll never feel shame about his car again since he opened a rear door for a kid to get in, and the mom's bra fell out of the car.

I hate how far schools like to go to control other adults.  Stop it, they're not your problem, the kids are, and that's only during school hours.  Deal with it when they break the law.  Just be glad the parents don't show up in tiny bikinis, or banana hammocks on the last day of school to kick off summer vacation.  Because this over reach is how it will happen.  Worse, the dads all show up wearing mankinis, and get out of the cars to wait for kids.

Some Bass Playing Guy: My wife worked in an elementary school for 15+ years and told me a few stories about moms showing up at the school dressed inappropriately. I can't recall much except for "boobs practically on display", but I don't thing any thing too outrageous.

I was a 70s free-range kid.  I had a couple of friends whose moms where of the 60s/70s 'the human body is nothing to be ashamed of' mindset.    One mom walked around the house in her bra and panties, the other just wore panties.

By not allowing them on school property.  Any business, homeowner, or whatever can have you removed from the property they are in charge of if they want to.  Schools like to hold things like graduations as hostage from parents when the schools don't get their way.  It has been an affective weapon against hs seniors from pulling pranks at the end of the year, when the student already earned a graduation, and there's not enough days left to suspend them.  As a law, it's even dumber.

I don't understand the idea of wearing a suit on a plane. Why should being an airline passenger be a formal occasion? Might as well wear a suit while grocery shopping.

At our local schools you have to be buzzed in through locked doors. And immediately into the office. The kids should never see the parents until theyve bee  through the office. And we still have people show up looking like they just rolled out of bed etc. Baseball games are always great though. The moms all show up with as little clothing as possible to make sure they get their tan on.

I showed up at the school in pajamas once. They were really pissed. But it was an all girl catholic high school my daughter attended. So they were a bit uptight. That....and I sleep naked

The theory is if you dress well your odds of getting an upgrade are better.
I took better advice: "Dress as if you are going to have to exit a plane in an emergency, perhaps one that includes water or fire"

My mom used to drop me off in her ratty bathrobe but those were the days when parents barely slowed their cars to let the kids out - none of that "walk up and sign them in" stuff.

Our prank consisted of sleeping in the front lawn the night before graduation, while also using as much sidewalk chalk as possible on the brick exterior(you know, it washes off). Harmless shiat, ya know?

There was a time when flying was an 'event', and the airlines treated you as a person, and not cattle.
Now your just on a bus with wings and less leg room.
