Rubbing alcohol  from a alcohol pad works if you're out in the wild (you're probably not have any of those items while hiking).

Snakes are so cool though. I mean literally, they are cold blooded. A python wrapped around you in the hot summer weather feels really nice.

Seems to me one could make a nice bit of cash selling de-glanded snakes to snake handling preachers.
