I heard this is why south american criminal gangs whack people as they come in or out of the door.  Home invasions are really risky. Easier just to tail someone a few days and get them after a long monday at work

That article was thin on details. I won't be surprised if it turns into "drug deal goes bad"

Who lived in that house, John Wick?

Texas, huh?  If it was in Chicago, the families of the robbers would have already filed wrongful death suits in Cook County court.

One of the alleged robbers died at the scene. Two others fled in a vehicle before hitting a pole two blocks away; one man was found dead in the vehicle, and the other collapsed one block away. He was transported to the hospital, where he died.

Actually, it has happened twice recently in Chicago that women being robbed on the street had concealed carry permits so the tough guy(s) had a bad day:

Cook County lawsuits pending.

There seems to be some disagreement about how many people were involved/shot.

I doubt the guys going in were exactly professionals.

I'll be curious to see what the details are, but I'm guessing they were fairly bunched up and were taken by surprise.

It's Houston. I wouldn't step uninvited upon someone's lawn without expecting an armed response.

I do not understand.  If they know when he won't be home, and aren't interested in keeping him alive for ransom and just want to burlgarize the place, why not just break in and leave before he gets home?

Do you really think they chose the house at random?

Home invasion targets are picked for a reason. An immigrant family that doesn't trust banks and has a lot of cash in the house; someone with a lot of expensive jewelry.

Given the resident's ready response at a late hour, there was a ton of cash and/or drugs in that house. This is two sets of criminals fighting it out, and the Second Amendment made it possible.

Newscasters have long been identifying anything larger than a derringer as "an AK-47".

/ take it with a few pounds of salt

There's a little net thing you can put on the side of a gun if you aren't interested in leaving brass all over the place.

Eh, probably the former or we'd have heard about it by now if it were a drug thing.

I doubt more restrictive gun laws would have prevented the home invasion.  However, it mght have cost the homeowner his life, at least in this case.

I give you an 8/10.  Was succinct, and didnt stray too far toward being overblown,

That homeowner got lucky that he didn't end up in the morgue as well.

And if it's shown that he chased them out into the street and shot them as they were fleeing, that's no longer self-defence.

If someone kicked in my door right now I'd grab a pistol and shoot and I have little money and zero drugs in my home.  Does that make me a criminal?  I'm not.

Those kids have shiat for parents.  You begrudge a person the ability to protect themselves because other people are shiat parents?  Did the person in tfa blow off the hands of the kids, or did the kids  blow off the hands with this person's gun?

Want to protect kids and make sure they don't have shiat parents?  Institure breeding permits.  Make sure prospective parents are not shiat.

I prefer the CZ Scorpion, ammo is interchangeable with a couple of my other pistols.  An AK round can go through a lot more things than a 9mm will.
