No, it's not.

It's individual cancerous cell destruction.

The article started badly, ended better.

This is why I support the Black Lives Matter movement that Kap started. We aren't going to get "there" until difficult discussions are had.

Christ almighty he really is defending bigots with casual dismissive rhetoric that it's the shaming of bigots that makes him uncomfortable.

I really assumed this would be satire.

The problem is their version of difficult discussions is why can't o call black peoples the n word. If they would just submit to the white man and authority all of this could be avoided. It is disingenuous bullshiat all of it.

I think it's best for everyone if CNN just fires this admitted homophobe. Between that and his explicit support of bigots and bigotry he cannot be trusted to impartially report on current events.

Well, if we leave you people alone, then you act as if it's okay to be hateful bigots. Then our government starts rounding up and killing people you bigots don't like, when we complain you just respond back with "Suck it up, snowflake!" So I'd rather keep you bigots as that uncle we ignore or put into the funny farm, rather than empower you people with silence.

I see his point. Don't pretend for a minute that you haven't had bigoted thoughts or bigoted things at some points in your lives. We're all guilty of racism. Doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything about it, but it's never good to be so sure of your own righteousness.

one of my coworkers was a very attractive Black girl. We got along quite well...but she did give me a funny look when she made a statement with which I disagreed...and I replied with the above phrase.

Luckily she was cool with it, knowing there was no malice- just one of those "D'oh!" moments.
She had a good laugh at the "Oh shiat, what did I just SAY?" look on my face...and that was the end of it.

Did make a mental note to self: "THINK before you open your yap and let fly!"

What if I told you that some people - now stay with me here - are capable of condemning individual expressions of bigotry while concurrently - now here's the really complicated part - condemning systemic manifestations of bigotry? It's not an either/or relationship. In fact, the two are tightly intertwined.

Or, as we say around here, whynotboth.jpg

It isn't only the subconscious aspect that has been problematic, if that indeed is a attributable factor. It's shiat like Viggo Mortensen being forced to apologise, and his co-star from The Green Book getting all uppity, over Viggo's utterance of the 'n-g-er' word -- even when used in an intellectual discussion about the word. That shiat is stupid af, and that Ali guy should apologise to Viggo for being a dumbass.

And that's something to consider.  Marching in White Power parades is a very deliberate act.  Still being unaware of White Nationalism and White Supremacy are acts of deliberate deception or willful ignorance.  Saying something stupid because of a part of your mind that you can't directly control is something else and should probably be treated differently than the other examples.

I've never heard this one.  So the context is obvious, as in actually discussing the history and use of the word instead of using it as a slur?

No, I got part way into it where the thesis appeared to be "we can't do two things at once" and stopped wasting my time.

Maybe there is a smart point in there somewhere, but, if so, the writer really needs to hone their persuasive writing skills, because it sure didn't appears that way from the introduction.

I never heard that phrase in my life for MLK until this weatherman was accused of saying it.

But because this guy is white, he was fired based on the assumption that he made the slip because he uses that phrase at home.  Bullshiat.

There is bigotry here, and it's in the way this guy was treated, the assumption that he must think like a small minded redneck because his skin is white.  That's the bigotry here.  They should have as accepted his apology and moved on.  He made a mistake, it was not intentional.

TFA is some guy trying to validate the poor treatment of this guy by loony left wing acolytes through a personal confession of white bigotry.  Go hate yourself somewhere else. No need to read about your personal struggles with bigotry and racism.

at first they came for the bigots, but i said nothing - because if you say anything to a bigot you will just reinforce their bigotry...
