So we're going with liberals hate taxes now?

2019-01-07 4:00:12 PM
Wait, I thought liberals loved taxes. This headline makes no sense.

2019-01-07 4:14:19 PM
We've all seen that wanting stuff without having to pay for it is an exclusively Republican thing.  Nice try,  substandardmitter.

Ambivalence: Wait, I thought liberals loved taxes. This headline makes no sense.

All I can think of is republicans think they're the only ones paying taxes, and liberals want things for free.  Why, because it defies logic, which is the trademark of republican thinking.  You know, opposite of reality.

Like a republican public school teacher, who is against socialized education.  I actually know a few.  They don't seem to understand irony.

I'm in the thought group of, make the most of what you have now, and we'll see about getting more money.  I'm oppose wasteful spending.

This is a terrible headline. Fark needs an "out subby" button that works like the White House petition thing.

2019-01-07 5:48:02 PM
Wait, you're blaming Douglas Bruce's TABOR debacle on Democrats?

2019-01-07 6:25:58 PM
Seem to be a lot of shiathead headlines getting greenlit today.

easy fix, let them export MJ to other states

It goes in to the education fund if I recall

Well,it's a start I guess.

What's up with the comedically-challenged, head-scratcher headlines? Is it April Fool's Day? If it's April Fool's Day, I'm missing my anniversary.

Anyway, it's weird enough to make me stop lurking.

Herb Utsmelz: We've all seen that wanting stuff without having to pay for it is an exclusively Republican thing.  Nice try,  substandardmitter.

But the stuff conservatives want doesn't include good schools. Learning about things like evolution or developing critical thinking skills is bad for their brand of derp

2019-01-07 7:05:53 PM
Borrowing money is what they keep trying to pass. That's stupid. There's also this nutty fixation with new charter schools rather than fixing existing public schools. And there's vagueness on every ballot measure whether the money goes. I want a strict less children per teacher and more teacher pay ballot measure. The school butterfats (bureaucracy autocorrect) can just make do for now in my opinion.

2019-01-07 7:06:24 PM
Subby herped the derp correctly, but failed to adjust for potato.

2019-01-07 7:08:02 PM
It's mostly conservatives in blue states that hate paying for things trollmiter

2019-01-07 7:08:05 PM
Yeah, you've got this "blue state/red state" shiat all figured out, dumbmitter.

Did you perhaps go to school in Kansas? Or Alabama? Or maybe you were homeschooled, with all the grasp of facts and relevant statistics that that implies.

2019-01-07 7:10:53 PM
" They want better schools but they don't want to pay for them "

Then their transition into a blue state isn't complete.

Ambivalence: Wait, I thought liberals loved taxes. This headline makes no sense.

Meh, it's a weak headline troll.

2019-01-07 7:12:54 PM
Colorado's new 'Blue State' status is exaggerated because of Trump. He is VERY unpopular out here, even among some Republicans.(they voted Cruz) And we have a large independent caucus (35%) that mostly hates the guy.
We are not as 'progressive' as we might appear.

2019-01-07 7:14:06 PM
Wait... so the GOP spends almost 2 trillion on a worthless tax cut without any other revenue offset, but it is the blue states that "don't want to pay for" things?  GTFO, subby.  Your headline is bad and you should feel bad.

2019-01-07 7:14:16 PM
Man, this place has sucked today.

AliceBToklasLives: Wait, you're blaming Douglas Bruce's TABOR debacle on Democrats?

As a former Coloradan, TABOR is a very bad policy.

2019-01-07 7:15:34 PM

edmo: So we're going with liberals hate taxes now?

When there's no rich people to pay them for them? Yes.

Hey! Haven't seen you for ages! Shame that run ended.

ding ding ding

Getting rid of TABOR would be the best thing that CO could do for its own economic health.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Colorado's new 'Blue State' status is exaggerated because of Trump. He is VERY unpopular out here, even among some Republicans.(they voted Cruz) And we have a large independent caucus (35%) that mostly hates the guy.

Coloradoans are very progressive. The Texans and Orange County Republicans who live south of Denver are the problem.

Which states are givers and which are takers?

Strange, most of the "republican" states are subsidized by the "democratic" states, trollmitter.

2019-01-07 7:42:25 PM
...now where did I leave that thing for subby? Where is it?...

Oh there it is!

The Federal Government should already be paying almost the entire cost of highways through the state.  Any failure there is a failure in Federal infrastructure planning.  Wonder who is in charge of that.

2019-01-07 7:53:45 PM
Hillary won Colorado because they figured she was a cross between Woodrow Wilson and Margaret Thatcher.

2019-01-07 7:55:48 PM
Ah, subby is a little butthurt, apparently.

#1 complaint by conservatives and libertarians living in a blue state is high taxes for education spending. So this might be the dumbest headline ever to appear on Fark.

Go soak your head, puddin.

domino324: Seem to be a lot of shiathead headlines getting greenlit today.

The neocon bootlocker mods must be getting tired of being dogpiled every time they say something dumb in the actual threads.

has someone mentioned red-staters suck the teat of blue-stater's federal taxes?

and ...

Republicans run on starve the beast, government can't work ... and when they get in power they press for lower taxes

then when someone points out we aren't allocating enough monies for desired public policies we hear SOCIALISM! and IT WILL BANKRUPT US ALL!

you know what we should do... we should get a businessman in office to help figure this whole budget thing out...

or... we could just:

raise taxes until all public policies are paid for then... we... now stick with me on this...

... wait for the people to vote on the things they NO LONGER care about as much as they care about lower taxes.

let's see where things land...

Republicans are to blame for this: Fark TABOR, right in the ear

Goddamn Texas Republicans is what's wrong with Colorado politics.

Well, when you've been burned like Coloradans were with the I25 Gap thing (Approved a tax increase to widen the highway and then after approving it, found out the expansion is a toll road) you aren't likely to trust any tax increases after that.

What happened to the funds for schools coming from legalizing marijuana? Could it be the Legislature saw that money and said "Ha ha, were taking that too"?

2019-01-08 12:58:02 AM
It's like you didn't even read the article. The counties that aren't primarily made up of garbage people voted to fund the schools. All the hillfark backwater folk and many of the people who wish they could move over a zip code or two voted no.

So essentially, most of the counties that have good schools tried to help out the rest of the state, and the counties that strive teach their younguns to read as good as them folk up in Greeley voted no. So their kids will be as dumb as their parents are, while they all continue to whine about the lubrul elites in Boulder, Aspen, Denver, the Butte, Telluride, etc.

Some shiat never changes.

Stoker: What happened to the funds for schools coming from legalizing marijuana? Could it be the Legislature saw that money and said "Ha ha, were taking that too"?

It's complicated (of course) but basically the first 40 million goes to school construction projects and then a percentage goes to the general education fund. After that, it really depends on the municipality.

It's one way to take care of things like deferred maintenance, but Mary Jane taxes in total are only a small percentage of the state's income. It's just not that big an industry, even compared to other retail businesses.
