I was a Bat Boy for the Oakland A's in the 90's and got paid $25 a game.  Looking back, I would have PAID twice that for that job.

/Made most of my money from the players that had me get girls' numbers from the stands.

Arizona Cardinals? 2-6
Phoenix Suns? 2-9
Arizona Diamondbacks? Already eliminated from the playoffs

I wonder how many sports arenas we will be building to keep our loyal teams here.

It's Arizona, they'd lose their state business license if they didn't screw over the poors.

So if they work a Red Sox game, they actually get paid more?

Yeah, but they chose a Bobcat for the mascot for some stupid reason...

The Cards for their stadium because of a single win. They smoked the Cowboys the Sunday before the election and a bunch of dumbasses decided that one win means they got a new place to play.

Wait.  He got paid $60 per game, for 82 games ($4920), to wear a full-body fur suit, in the summer, IN ARIZONA?!?  Did he at least get a free saline drip during the seventh inning stretch?

You try slithering up and down the stands  without legs ten times per game, 81 games a year.

they distance themselves from it now, but at the time the Snakes AAA team was in Tucson and the team acknowledged it was a blatantly subtle / subtly blatant attempt to woo in the Arizona Wildcat fanbase.  They never overtly said it but they hinted at it.  "we know a lot of fans in Phoenix may have other loyalties, we feel this may help them feel that this is their team even though we're in ASU's backyard, and that goes for fans around our great state....."  and then when all the AAA teams pulled out of Tucson they were already kinda 'invested' in the D-Baxter thing and oh who gives a shiat.

/was it his inaugural game.  I remember the kinda half cheer, half boo when he jumped over the left center fence onto the warning track.

Because the stadium was originally called "Bank One Ballpark," or "BOB" for short.

And his salary, such as it is, is being cut in half because of reasons.

/given that Arizona is a red state, I'm assuming that he makes too much for public assistance

Doesn't seen to be much if any savings.  Hour maybe 2 before game to greet the fans, 3 he game, half hour to see folks out, and half hour cleanup.  6 hrs at min plus fica vs $60 of contract pay.

"Team officials said they were protecting employees from being paid less than the $10.50-an-hour minimum wage. "

How do they even say stuff like this with a straight face?
