Good, she's a good candidate. I want 4-5 really good candidates to run. Remember 2016? That was a joke. Let the people decide.

We're going to get a lot of mileage out of that jacket!

Al Franken.

Without his endorsement, she'll have trouble. That aside, she is absolutely qualified and a decent/good candidate.

2018-11-09 09:01:09 AM
Anyone talking about 2020 pisses me off. Let's worry about how we make it to 2020 with a functional government first.

holdmybones: she is absolutely qualified

Agreed, she's qualified. But, then, Kavanaugh was qualified to be on SCOTUS. Qualifications aren't everything.

and a decent/good candidate.

Negative. She ceded her candidacy when she stabbed Franken in the back. Now a vote for Gillibrand in the primary is a vote to re-elect Trump in the general.

2018-11-09 09:04:42 AM
Do you think anyone who voted for her is upset that she's thinking about running?

2018-11-09 09:04:52 AM
Thanks for helping railroad Franken. Yeah if it's you on the ballot in 2020 I'll hold my nose and vote for you but I'll punish myself afterwards

The gop has been giving us a great demonstration on how things turn out when you focus only on winning elections with no real plan on what to do after, so maybe let's do both.

You did. I'm just clearing it up for people who are like "she's OK, I'll support her."

Don't support her. Not talking about you here, I'm talking about everyone. Do. Not. Support. Her. Candidacy. And tell others who are considering supporting her what supporting her means. She's poison and it's her own fault. Support someone like Kamala Harris instead, someone who can win the general election instead of once again splitting the Democratic base. I swear there are a lot of Democrats who get off on stigginit to the libs as much as Republicans do.

I seem to recall a lot of comparisons to Clinton, back when the Franken thing went down, so, there's that.

Well, Franken was competition.  Now he's not. Easier than having Al drive a convertible through Dallas.  "Be sure to go by the book depository.  I hear it'll.... wait for it...  blow your mind."

2018-11-09 09:31:42 AM
Sorry, I don't support republicans.

2018-11-09 09:32:54 AM
She's alright, but I like several others better. I'm still of the opinion we should be giving Kamala Harris a strong look for 2020.

And no, it's not too early to talk about 2020, because we're going to spend the next two years just trying to stop the derp and staunch the bleeding, so while we're eyebrows deep in the oncoming rain of bullshiat, we definitely need to be shoring up the next step in our plan to escape the stupidest timeline.

she doesn't have a chance.

even if she would win, cuomo is there to appoint another democrat, just like gillibrand was appointed by patterson to replace hillary when she became secretary of state

2018-11-09 09:34:11 AM
Yep. Her answer to frankin was, "investigation? Obviously you're guilty! Under the Bus with you, i have political points to score!"

I would only vote for her if she's the only option to eject the Republicans.

Explain how Gillebrand is a Republican.  Nobody can be sitting that far over to the left, that's left of Jupiter.

"Fresh Off Re-Election, Gillibrand Says She Is Giving 'Long, Hard Thought' to 2020 Run"

Are we not doing phrasing?  Of course, I am old enough to think of her as attractive.

This, this right here. Everyone can start up the mutual fellatio just as soon as the house fire is out. I would prefer to get the house rebuilt before the self aggrandizing orgy starts, but thems the breaks.

Honestly it was incredibly dumb to start talking like this right now. She should have kept lying and saying no at least for the rest of the year. It was only a few weeks ago when she literally promised to serve her full 6 years. People are dumb but they can usually at least remember stuff that happened less than a month ago.

Stupid move to come out with such an obvious lie and flip-flop this soon (and at all). It will be used against her forever and it probably should because yeah, she's not Trump, but clearly she is a liar.

As long as supporters of the losers still vote for the winner.

And good god do I hope we not have the "But they're not electable" nonsense. A dead raccoon is electable in this climate, against Trump.

NewportBarGuy: Good, she's a good candidate. I want 4-5 really good candidates to run. Remember 2016? That was a joke. Let the people decide.

She's not actually a good candidate.

She flipped on guns.  When she was my representative, she had a good record on guns.  Then, when she was appointed to the Senate to fill Clinton's empty seat, she flipped on them, because while supporting gun rights will work to keep you elected in a surburban/rural upstate congressional districts, it won't work statewide when you add NYC voters into the mix.

She'd do fine in traditional Democratic strongholds, but that will hurt her in rural states, and you can't just ignore those states.  Clinton did that and it cost her the presidency.

Whether it would hurt her enough to keep her from being elected remains to be seen, but even aside from the actual topic itself, you can point to that and say she really doesn't have any deeply held beliefs, other than the belief that she needs to be re-elected.

2018-11-09 09:39:01 AM

From what I had heard from lawyer type friends, he wasn't a particularity distinguished or notable jurist. His only real qualifications were rank partisanship and his eagerness to suck Trump's shroom.

There's going to be much stiffer competition for her in 2020 that there was for Hillary in 2016, so it's going to far from a cakewalk for her.

People forget that the primary was essentially Hillary and a bunch of tomato cans - hell, you had two former R's, an Indepedent, a college professor (?), and a former mayor of Baltimore. She won't be able to run roughshod in a primary.

Should he win the nomination, I'd back Cory Booker, and seminally I do not like Cory Booker. That said, I'd also back Gillibrand if she's the choice I have. She would lose, but it's the vote I have to live with.

shastacola: There's going to be a huge number of democrats running for the nomination in 2020 and that's a good thing.

Not necessarily. The cacophony of weak personalities is how Trump was able to steal the show in the primaries. A left-leaning version of Trump would still be an assault on dignity, intelligence, and reality.

I just hope there's someone who is actually good, not just "not Trump" enough to get through the primary as barely the winner. Because no one will vote for an uninspiring lump, as we have painfully learned.
