(Deadspin)   This incredible coaching rant has indeed been forgotten, primarily because only HBO could have broadcast it in 1989 (NSFW)   (deadspin.com) divider line

Lord Jubjub: And they won that game

With seven field goals and an overtime safety.

Evidently things did not go according to plan.

A good coach is critical of his team in victory, uplifting in defeat (unless defeat becomes a habit)

That sounds like one of those games where you won, but you might have learned more from a loss.

OT safety? I'm guessing that's the only time that has happened.

This thread is a fail without video of anytime Jim Mora went off the rails. There are a lot more of his ramblings than the "Playoffs?" one out there.

It was the first. It's happened twice since then.
23 is the most points a team has scored without getting a touchdown.

I still think Lee Elia's "playground for assholes" rant is the sine qua non of coaching rants.  and the overlooked part of his was, it wasn't in September after the Cubs were out of the playoffs.  it happend in like, mid April.  the season had 15-20 games under its belt and he was already that mad at the fans.

Tommy LaSorda's "Kurt farkin' BEVACQUA, that farker couldn't hit water iffy fell outta farkin' BOAT!" rant is probably my number two.  it comes out of nowhere.  not a slow boil at all.

One of the great all-time underachieving teams. After '86 when New York won the World Series and the Superbowl, I bet a kid from DC $50 that Minnesota would sweep in '87. That was in April. Then the strike happened, the Vikings went 8-7 and still came a batted-down pass in the endzone away from tying up the NFC championship game at the farking Redskins. Oh and the Twins won the World Series.  Last time I ever bet on sportsball.

Wait.  Did that count in 86?  I thought it was Mets / Jets and Giants/Yankees
And
Knicks/Rangers

Islanders/Nets

Bills /  Sabres

And now I'm sad for New York. 2018 made this possible

Don't start that Mets / Jets crap with me. In high school my friends from New York were all Giants fans. The only two Jets fans I ever knew had moved to New York from somewhere else, right around 1968, and one of those was a professional pilot.
The only Yankee fans I've known were people who had never been to New York, like most Notre Dame fans have never been to Indiana, or to college for that matter.  They were just on TV all the time.
